Thanks to the internet and Google in particular, its getting harder and harder to scam the public provided the public takes the trouble to verify things. Unfortunately, our "great" journalists dont ever bother to ask pols to recite sources nor cross examine pols about their sweeping statements. Its too bad there is no such thing as "journalistic malpractice" wherein we could hold "journalists" accountable for sins of omission and commission.
If anyone knows a thing or two about "conflicts of interest" it's the SEIU! Think I'm kidding? Do a little digging to see for yourself. You wouldn't believe me if I told you any way! So don't be sheep, be informed. WAKE UP AMERICA!!
"Why are the InsurCos so deathly afraid of us having a CHOICE?"
Because when you can buy BETTER insurance at one-half the cost, you'll drop private insurance and switch to government insurance. The health ins companies will lose zillions in pure cash. Their CEOs won't make the millions that they now make.
PUBLIC OPTION !is the best but if you dont like it just buy something else.. there will always be private companys to go to...this is only for the uninsured and those who want it...I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE THINK THIS WILL LIMIT CHOICE? RIGHT NOW 47 MILLION PEOPLE HAVE NO CHOICE THEY HAVE NO HEALTHCARE AND YOU ARE PAYING THEIR WAY ALREADY!! AT LEAST WITH PUBLIC OPTION WE CAN PREVENT THESE PEOPLE FROM ENDING UP IN E.R. ..SUPPORT THE PUBLIC OPTION!!EITHER WAY WE WILL PAY WHY NOT GET BEST DEAL??
"I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE THINK THIS WILL LIMIT CHOICE"
It won't limit choice, but the private health ins industry is spreading disinformation and outright lies via our elected politicians -- I should say, THEIR bought-and-paid-for politicians.
Unfortunately, right-wingers watch Fox News and Limbaugh, and those right-wingnuts buy into the industry's stinking, lying crap.
Umm.. just the say for MSNBC , Keith Olbermann, Schultz. The great plan they want to pass , all it does is give the insurance companies 30-40 million new patients. Sure they will be getting paid 50 cents to the dollar by the fed but that is still a whole new source of revenue. Democrats are morons, Republicans are morons.
I am a veteran. You are already paying for my health care. The Veterans' Administration medical system is government run health care. The doctors earn a set salary, I can't be turned away for anything, and the doctor does not have to check with some insurance company before providing me the care I need.
That is not true; there is no 98% who have health care. Being able to go the ER is NOT "health care". Health "care" is just that, the ability to take care of your health, some of which will include prevention, some will include maintenance, some includes more drastic measures.
Medicare and Military hospitals are GOVERNMENT run. If they suck so bad, crusade to do away with them. Otherwise quit standing in the way of people having access to medical care.
You are just full of assumptions. You must suround yourself with idiots if you think that people who live paycheck to paycheck are running around with cell phones and ipods. I do know people who eat out.. only because a dollar burger at McDonalds is the cheapest way to go when you can't afford food from the store. Nobody likes sending their kids to bed hungry.
Most of the people I know who are unable to get insurance are in fact some of the hardest working people I have even met. They are not going on cruises or living in the lap of luxery they are just trying to make ends meet. They make to much money to get any help from anyone for their medical bills and they don't make enough to be able to afford to pay for insurance. You need to come out of your bubble and look at the real world.
Under the public option NOBODY would be forced to choose the government program, an estimated 120 million people would CHOOSE the government program offered by the public option.
In the bill there are new laws that lay down what a good basic policy will have to have. If you have crappy insurance and don't know it's crappy and like it..you won't be able to keep it because it will be against the law to sell it. United must have some real crappy policies.
if you wanna cause something to fail in america... call it "socialist" :-) they rather fill the purses of politicians and GEO`s with money, than have universal healthcare for everyone...
they rather research clintons sex-life, than the death of 3000 ppl...
Everyone bitched when Obama said this was not a Christian nation.. but he was right. If we were a Christian nation we would have no problem helping the sick and the poor. We especially wouldn't use money (the root of all evil) as an excuse. Perhaps this is a test to see how wicked we really are. I imagine Jesus is disgusted. We really should take Gods name off of everything and stop pretending we are something we clearly are not.
America has become a very selfish country and the GOP is behind much of it! They drive lies and hate into many weak minded under educated people via FOX News so that they actually vote against their own well being!!! Thye use their religion against them as they know they can use it for votes & then help the wealthy once in power.
Of course. And from my experience as a nurse, they are an awful insurance company notorious for taking way too long to pay legitimate claims. The Urology group I worked for dropped them as an insurance plan they accepted because of being slow to pay.
The firm's vice president, John Sheils, told the Post that if a public option is implemented, "People would indeed lose [the private plans] they have, but they might very well be better off."
You have no idea what you are talking about. You do not know what I support. Read what I said if you are going to respond to me. You are clicking on my name, but not addressing anything I said.
The Lewin group made a report the Republicans mention, had 180.5 people switch to a cheaper (and same quality public plan). What politicians forget to mention is that the SAME scenario showed REDUCED ADMINSTRATIVE COSTS of 36.5%.
The report does not take into account that insurance companies will have to adapt and stop treating people like lemons and cherries if they want to remain in the industry.
In any other industry, officers of this companies would be prosecuted even criminally.

98% of the nation DOES NOT have private health care. Minus out those with Medicare, in the military, and those who have access to VA.

In the Washington Post:
The firm's vice president, John Sheils, told the Post that if a public option is implemented, "People would indeed lose [the private plans] they have, but they might very well be better off."
dogstar7 2 years ago 2
Republicans are not quoting that, are they?
Even the Lewin Group's President wants to distance himself from the way his firm is being represented.
dogstar7 2 years ago 2
Well then Sheils is a liar.
I am a veteran, and the VA Hospitals ARE government-run. They cannot turn me away.
However, when I was employed (disabled now), I used the health care of my employer. It was my option to use VA or my private insurance.
You need to ask yourselves "Why don't the politicians want the same thing they give to the veterans?"

Military hospitals are government run, too. It 's better than nothing. If the VA sucks so bad quit going and just let yourself die off.
