@wadejen31...... OXOXO to you!! :D This one always brings back memories of coming home from school and popping in "Staring at the sea - The Images" starting with The Cure playing on the bandstand at Queen's Square. Theeeen the intro of "Killing an Arab"!!! :_( Poor John Button died shortly after "Killing An Arab" was filmed.
Great, rare video! Rare because this must be The Cure's only "clip" shot by Anton Corbijn (the director of i.g."Control" about Ian Curtis and "Enjoy the Silence" from Depeche Mode). It's a shame they didn't work more with the famouz Dutch photographer/director. Up to date the cover of the album "Starring At The Sea" is their only cooperation. I think Corbijns involvement with the artwork of U2 and Depeche Mode kept The Cure away of creating some great and atmospheric pictures with him....
@Widthatnut Are you sure? Have you information for that? Otherwise: look for this video from Corbijn with U2 in Joshua Tree park around their foto shoot for their album cover. (search U2, Joshua Tree, Corbijn) I guess you can find enough clues that "Starring at the sea" is more Corbijn style than Tim Pope style.
@22chimiel 200 % sure. Pope is credited for the video in the "Staring at the sea". It was shot in Rye, UK, in feb 1986 to promote "Standing on the beach" LP (same story for the official "Boys don't cry" video, also shot for the same purpose). Both videos were shot in 1986. For the anecdote, the main character starring in the video died during the editing of the video and never could see the final result.
That old man always creeped me out.

@22chimiel Sorry to disappoint you, but this video was shot by Tim Pope and certainly not Anton Corbijn...
