Damn, I'm just feeling the love in these last couple of chapters of the story. I'm so proud of the way each one of the young people overcame or at least dealt with their obstacles, I wanted to cry. I wish Lisette's situation could have came out on a more or brighter positive note. I guess you can't have all and nothing.

@Lyn7721 I thought she was the only one that held her "Southern Bell" accent the entire time. Rudolphe and Christophe...lol had me lMAO. (Christophe, you could at times hear a Latino accent. ha ha ha)
@BIGBKELtheGOD Creole today is not what it would've been 200 years ago. Furthermore, in New Orleans at that time, especially them being fresh from Haiti almost, they would've spoken French 99.9% of the time. Yeah, probably would've been fine if they'd just spoken in their own plain english instead of attempting any accent or patois, but it is what it is.
Thank you so much for this awesome mini-series. I saw it on showtime when it aired the first time. I believe it should be something shown in schools. I've learned so much about this time in history. Again thank you!
@carmen5371 if you like the movie, read the book. The film is pretty true to the book but you , of course get more detail & insights from the book. I live in the neighbor hood this movie was set in, which is actually the Treme. My house was built by a wealthy gens de colour family in 1820.
@koja2004 I must agree that the acting is bad. The accents are horrible and inconsistent. I agree that there are legendary actors and actresses here, but they just didn't fully persuade on a lot of the emotions. I do, on the hand, applaud their efforts, considering the difficulty of developing a movie set in another time period. Daniel Sunjata, on the contrary, was phenomenal...I could swear that brother stepped straight out of the time machine to do this role.
poor lisette:(

U can practacly see the switch being flipped when they figured out lasette was in the pantry. Bad accents aside this was a great film

Also he needs to get rid of that house....too many people died in there, and knowing lisette there is probably a voodoo curse on it. XDD

The performances were inconsistent but what a wonderful choice of cast. So many appropriate young and older actresses all together.

LMAO! You can say that again and again. If you have ever heard creole/french american accents you know the ones in this film are terrible!
