I love Joe's commentary, but the one thing that's really missing from UFC commentary wise is a knowledgeable striker. When it goes to the ground Joe is perfect, but neither him nor Goldie can really get the same level of technical detail when it comes to striking. Bring in Bas Rutten to work with Joe Rogan and you'd have the perfect broadcast team.

I think both these guys do a great job. Joe is going way over the top with his false modesty. Yes, it's all about the fighters but great commentating does add to the experience. Ariel is right about there being bad commentators. The UFC would go on without Joe, but I really enjoy what he brings to the events.

Joe Rogan maybe humble. But like Ariel said. Many years from now when rogan isn't commentating there will be a huge void to fill.

Whether Joe thinks so or not, he is a huge part of the UFC and one of the best parts of the overall presentation. It will be very difficult to find another honest personality like his.

He is no doubt a modern day icon. Just look back at so many other famous broadcasters in sports. Rogan no doubt will have his place on the wall as a legend of UFC broadcasting

(ex. bas rutten) just look at all the athletes in other sports who retire and move on to broadcasting

Re 6:30 ... Joe is a good commentator but he was not there during the sport's birth. Old UFC (pre Zuffa) is when the sport was born. The commentary team for UFC 1 was Bill Wallace, Jim Brown and Kathy Long, with additional analysis from Rod Machado and post-fight interviews by Brian Kilmeade. Honorable mention goes to Jeff Blatnick (UFC 4 to UFC 32).
