This is interesting because it conveys that even the Devil itself has a defined morale or natural code it abides too. And that is exactly what the fundamentalists locked up in that church lack. When Christabella stabbed Rose, her blood was actually the darkness, as it melted the floor away, revealing Burned Alessa below. Although the movie was not as good as the games, the acting itself, particularly Dark Alessa's, was the greatest i've seen for almost any video game movie. Better than the resident evil movies, so that's all that counts. Silent Hill FTW!!!!

Her ealier work in the Stephen King mini-series 'Kingdom Hospital', of which S.H director Christophe Gans became a fan of, was what got Jodelle the role of Alessa/Sharon.

@GSEgLe That is one of the great things about this film (and the games) is that you constantly discover new things and other refferences of which to correalate these discoveries to. For instance: the black, viscous, liquid which pours out of Rose's stab wound is associated with Democritus' '4 humors theory, one being 'black bile'. Black bile reffers to the 'melancholic temperment' of which Alessa is.

Gans said that he would have liked to go more into Lisa's character but time and budget restraints in conjunction the both story fluidity and run time were a deciding factor. In the end dark Alessa looks sharon in the eye and they recombined which make the orignal Alessa, That was her plan after all.And she made her own dimension so she wouldnt go in the real world ,where last time she got hurt,made fun of,and killed.She just feels safe that no one will hurt her there

It is indeed a parable for god punishing an evil church. In SH3 it is said that Alessa was the town's god/mother of god and that's because the church burned her that the whole town was cursed. And now the vengeful God come back to make them pay.

Also it is funny that Rose, like in the legends of the town (SH3), come and save the people from their blindness. Furthermore Rose wears a "red" dress during this scene... just like God in the legends of Silent Hill.
