After writing the virtual book on shooting stills and video at Halloween Haunt, I can say that we get both... Some people scare us just as if we were guests in the mazes, which is evident when someone jumps out/charges the cam and is then gone. We also have the good fortune of having talent put on a bit of a show for us as well, often much more than you'd get going through in a steady line of guests. So, we do have the best of both worlds. Then, there are those who freeze and do nothing... ;)

@ThatHauntFreak they were really boring, predictable, and had no concept of originality. knotts is about bringing the startles and this just isn't cutting it. i assume when tpa comes through a maze everyone gives it their all, and if this is their all, this is pretty sad. of course it's a lot different when you're actually there, but from what i see and can tell, they blew it.

Hmmmm... I'm afraid I disagree. You are right about it being different when you're actually there. I think monsters do deliver the scares quite well. The biggest flaw to Lockdown this year was that sometimes it would get empty... REALLY empty. We're talking no monsters from the beginning of the maze until the hallway at 2:30, so we had to sort of "spread out" to cover the entire thing. Other than that, I think Lockdown did pretty well this year.

@chadinterrupted You have to realize that when the camera comes through... They aren't there to scare the camera. They are there to act. Having several friends who work at Haunt. It is completely different from a standard guest to a website video camera.

@Nischmo don't imply i haven't worked there when i have. i know exactly what i am talking about. i know this video only shows a few minutes of the time these employees were working and can't speak for the rest of the time they were working but everyone in our maze made such a big deal about it and wanted to make us look good by giving it their all. if this is lockdown giving it their all that's pretty sad. the monsters were extremely visible and predictable.

Also, a light showing up all our shadow spots change the game. If Slaughter was giving it all, it wasn't too far off everything else I've seen this year. Not to mention it was boring when I walked through.

But the thing is, it was two different methods. While Slaughter treated the camera as if it was just another guest Lockdown treated it like some what of a trailer. So where you guys tried to scare a home viewer, we brought them in.

So if that's what you call top of your game "startles and originality" then you got work to do as well. I'm not saying we did perfect cause I'd personally change quite a bit. But you guys weren't so impressive yourselves. No matter how amazingly talented YOU think your crew is. But I will say both were still top videos based on videos alone. IMHO. Not that you care.
