just watched this and i almost booted up my PS2 to play this boss again +^_^+ then i remembered that my PS2 looks like s*** on my 1080p HDTV, even shittier then my old CRT. i cried then.... still soul calibur 5 is out and i just finished with recreating Xenosaga EP.II Jin and Margulis!! KOS-MOS is hard to make so im not finished... (cries yet again for soul calibur 3's Type-x armor pieces)
This fight was so long, but I enjoyed every moment... except the occasional "Haha, everyone attacking Id missed" rounds. But this fight in particular is why I always farm Half Repairs on that sliding lift area. Grind skill points there too. ;p
This game was alright, story line was interesting, but I had fun with the E.S. btw Zebulon can have the highest compiled damage if you face multiple opponents (5 for best), 300k compiled damage
Saga and Gears shouldn't really be compared as they are techincally two different series not at all connected with eachother. Think of Saga as a "Reboot". Takahashi even stated "We figured we should start everything from scratch all over again."
Sure, I'm sad we didn't get a TRUE sequal because of everything that happened with the companies, and yes, I do prepher Gears to Saga, but that's not to say Saga is shit. I personally enjoyed them both and really liked the homage to Weltall ID.
@Disgaealikerasap I'm not surprised. Courts are a headache and the more time a company spends in court the less time they can spend on developing. Plus maybe they liked it too and they know it's hard to create a business....of course it doesn't mean it isn't deserved. It's complicated....
As much as I hate to admit it, I did this fight yesterday morning and beat him on my first try using only the best equipment available at the shop and the 1/2 Guard and Charge+ upgrades. He only has three attacks and one of your E.S.'s cant build anima or the fight is impossible to win. His most dangerous one is an obvious "use Charge this turn or lose an E.S." attack, and if you DO Charge with 1/2 Guard it does maybe 10,000. I was disappointed =/, fun nonetheless though I guess.

@DMosPx Xenosaga is the spiritual successor to Gears, once the Monolith Soft team left Squaresoft, they also lost the rights to all of Gear's trademarks. However (comma) HAD Xenosaga been in the same "universe," Xenosaga III would have been episode II, where Gears is episode V. Even if they continued with this model, it was very clear from the get go that III would be the premature end of the Xeno series, so the part where it would have been continuous (Yuriev's ascention) came and went.
It pains me to see that the two top-rated comments here are either peoples saying they don't care for Xenosaga or calling the secret boss piece of shit compared to Xenogears.
I love both series, but if the average fans are not better than that, then I'm done complaining about Xenosaga and Xenogears cancellation. They don't deserve sequels and prequels of such awesome games in the first place.
Why does everyone have to down on Xenosaga and compare it to Xenogears so much? Both are great games, both have changed the face of gaming, and both have their own individualities. I'm 16 years old and I myself have lived through the generation where the games: Final Fantasy 7, Brave Fencer Musashi, Xenogears and what not ruled the consoles, played through most of them at a young age and finished them later on at a phase where I obtained a higher level of mental comprehension..and after looking at this and the other games that have hit the mainstream, I knew that my childhood have lived better days.

Even with the updated graphics, the more recent games still can't compare with the earlier (original) games. I feel like these days, it's all about the graphics.
Omega ID and Weltall ID have zero connection to eachother in the games universe. When the creators left Square for Namco, Takahashi stated: "Now that we are under a different company, we figured we should start everything from scratch all over again." So essentially, what was ment to be a prequal, turned into a whole new universe. The familiar faces, names, and gears are nothing more than homage to the originals. Sad really that it all went down like this, but at least we have Xenogears.

Xenogears is the entire trilogy retold/foretold on a single planet with fei/abel, shion's brother Usuki's and Elly/nephilim as the main characters and playing slightly different roles who eventually reunite in a climax of the storylines that the trilogy left as holes.
OMG this brings back memories. When i was exploring I ran into him and thought holy shit its ID or aka the demon of elru!!! Im so going to die....I was waiting for the Yggdrasil to drop from the sky during the fight.
It made me wonder the point of having to give ID all that HP but no real bite...
That gear should be more aggressive than that... guess they considered the softcore people who cant handle a real challenge.. no offense i mean if its supposed to be tough then why the hell does it seem so easy...? Meaning.. the attacks from The Gear are semi weak in a way.. and the player n allies deal 4 times more damage when weltal deals hardly anything...that sucks buts its my opinion

@81kamill Omega Id is a simulation when he's fought in Ep. 3, and has no pilot, Id or otherwise. I think that should be taken into account. It's not much more then a nice cameo and the toughest ES play boss to boot.
my understanding of xenosaga was it was a prequal to xenogears, but half way through the project they decided to make it its own series not connected to xenogears.
Easiest/Fastest way to kill this boss is to use all 3 Anima Awakenings at once, so that EVERY attack causes an Ambush.... and I'm not sure why you were using only one casting of Missiles from Asher at times.... you don't get extra energy on the next turn for it....
@assaindude Lol, never lost this fight, and I go Anima Awakening on all every time I do this fight. So no, he doesn't one shot you, and I never get under half health in this fight, call me cautious or whatnot, but I keep my health up
Xenosaga takes place roughly 10,000 years prior to 'Gears. The technology in XS is farther advanced due to it taking place before the Eldrige self destructed and crashed into XG's planet, taking Deus along with it. Deus, being a sentient inter-planetary weapon, used to the power of the Zohar (that of which trapped the Wave Existence) to spawn life on said planet, causing everything that transpired in XG to happen. Abel is the first incarnation of what Fei would eventually be 10k years later.

of course, it easy to beat omega ID when ur E.S are high stats but people, try to beat him before u face Yurive and Omega Metampsychosis, it is possible, i did it and it was fucking long and very challenging.
Xenosaga trilogy has nothing to do with Xenogears. It's not before and it's not after Xenogears. Even the creators of Xenogears said that they decided to create a different story but with some similarities. The rights to Xenogears belongs to square enix, but Xenosaga belongs to Monolith Soft. That's why Square Enix use to be called Square Soft
Xenosaga did too many ret-cons and rewrites so I do not acknowledge it to have to be the same series as Xenogears. I consider it a completely different story with Xenogear elements.
@FAR1OS Omega Universitas is Weltall's prototype... Is told in the first novels... When I knew that Namco was making Xenosaga's game, I was excited to reach this episode, because this is where Fei's saga begins (Abel appears for the first time)... Now I can't wait to see Episode 6, because it's Xenogears...

Not necessarily. Originally, it was said to be a project to be a prequel, but when licensing issues got in the way, and the goal looked bleak, they decided to make it a stand-alone story.

Yeah, Id wasn't all that hard. The toughest E.S battle is with the E.S Dan, and the hardest character battle....hmmm I would say Dmitri. I remember that fight annoying me.
For those of us who wanted badly to beat the crap out of Id after he trashes the Yggdrasil, or just wanted to see the Weltall in Id mode: this is the battle of reckoning.
Well, it had similar story elements to Xenogears. Like the heavy influence of philosophers like Carl Jung. Freidrich Neitzche, Sigmund Freud, and Jacques Lacan, and a lot of religious links.
@retardationist i'm with you i was hoping saga would have been great, playing xenogears was truly a glory day rpg back when sony literally made truly great rpg's, then saga comes out, and... It was really disappointing, not bad, but a let down.
@LordRuth I think it had to do with legal issues. They couldn't very well make a Namco game that ties directly into a Squaresoft game, after all. But they do have plenty of nods to the original Xenogears throughout the series, like this fight and the character name Uzuki, as well as the quote in the first Xenosaga which we also see in Xenogears, "And ye shall be as gods." I'm sure they'd have loved to have tied the two titles together into one larger continuity, though.

Xenogears it's the end of the Xenosaga Storyline, besides, it's not the end of Xenogears story because there's also a Xenogears Episode 6 (it takes place sometime after the game). You should read Xenogears Perfect Works. I seriously recommend it... (oh... I hate my english... jajajajajaja)

@Xadskad I have my doubts on this theory. I think some of them really wished that's what it could have been, but they knew that it wouldn't end that way. Episodes 1-3 of Xenosaga, to my knowledge, would have basically been episode 1 of the actual Xenogears story. Maybe. I can't say for certain because I don't know everything with Xenosaga because I couldn't get through episode 2 and never bothered to buy 3. But, from what I've heard, Xenosaga wasn't being entirely faithful to the timeline at all
@Xenofreak Blame Square-Enix, not Xenosaga, Monolith couldn't get back the rights to Xenogears from them and had to rewrite it. Episodes 1-3 of Xenosaga are indeed altered version of Parts 1-3 of Xenogears. The imagining of the story had to occur to avoid lawsuits. But, Omega Id, Abel, and a host of other "cameos" are there as treats to the Xenogears fans. And I know from experience, Ep. 2 is a game for masochists. The hardest and most irritating due to it's lack of equipable anything.
i played xenosaga 1, liked it. i mean, it was definately NO Xenogears, but it was nostalgia. then popped in xenosaga 2. got as far as the first save point, noticed the animation, voice actors, and character models were completely changed, and never played it again.
I have... "endured" it. It gets better (a little) by the end but then it just suddenly ends and you're like "WTF? The end so soon? It was just staring!". Yeah, xenosaga 2 sucked, unfortunately.

Even with the updated graphics, the more recent games still can't compare with the earlier (original) games. I feel like these days, it's all about the graphics.

Omega ID and Weltall ID have zero connection to eachother in the games universe. When the creators left Square for Namco, Takahashi stated: "Now that we are under a different company, we figured we should start everything from scratch all over again." So essentially, what was ment to be a prequal, turned into a whole new universe. The familiar faces, names, and gears are nothing more than homage to the originals. Sad really that it all went down like this, but at least we have Xenogears.

Xenogears is the entire trilogy retold/foretold on a single planet with fei/abel, shion's brother Usuki's and Elly/nephilim as the main characters and playing slightly different roles who eventually reunite in a climax of the storylines that the trilogy left as holes.

That gear should be more aggressive than that... guess they considered the softcore people who cant handle a real challenge.. no offense i mean if its supposed to be tough then why the hell does it seem so easy...? Meaning.. the attacks from The Gear are semi weak in a way.. and the player n allies deal 4 times more damage when weltal deals hardly anything...that sucks buts its my opinion

toughest boss in the game.. honestly seems like they made ID's weltal a huge joke in this game if he's as hard and all as told on this ver supposedly. the slayer of gods.. shouldn't he be able to have a few One Shot/hit K.O attacks?
I never played this game cause i read up the story line seemed really.. crappy to me and not too mention other things but game play looked awesome

@81kamill Omega Id is a simulation when he's fought in Ep. 3, and has no pilot, Id or otherwise. I think that should be taken into account. It's not much more then a nice cameo and the toughest ES play boss to boot.

Easiest/Fastest way to kill this boss is to use all 3 Anima Awakenings at once, so that EVERY attack causes an Ambush.... and I'm not sure why you were using only one casting of Missiles from Asher at times.... you don't get extra energy on the next turn for it....

Xenosaga takes place roughly 10,000 years prior to 'Gears. The technology in XS is farther advanced due to it taking place before the Eldrige self destructed and crashed into XG's planet, taking Deus along with it. Deus, being a sentient inter-planetary weapon, used to the power of the Zohar (that of which trapped the Wave Existence) to spawn life on said planet, causing everything that transpired in XG to happen. Abel is the first incarnation of what Fei would eventually be 10k years later.

of course, it easy to beat omega ID when ur E.S are high stats but people, try to beat him before u face Yurive and Omega Metampsychosis, it is possible, i did it and it was fucking long and very challenging.

Xenosaga trilogy has nothing to do with Xenogears. It's not before and it's not after Xenogears. Even the creators of Xenogears said that they decided to create a different story but with some similarities. The rights to Xenogears belongs to square enix, but Xenosaga belongs to Monolith Soft. That's why Square Enix use to be called Square Soft

Xenosaga did too many ret-cons and rewrites so I do not acknowledge it to have to be the same series as Xenogears. I consider it a completely different story with Xenogear elements.

When I knew that Namco was making Xenosaga's game, I was excited to reach this episode, because this is where Fei's saga begins (Abel appears for the first time)... Now I can't wait to see Episode 6, because it's Xenogears...

actually this game takes place before Xenogears by quite a few thousand years. Abel was the first incarnation of Fei not the last. the events in the game or almost identical to how DEUS got on the Eldridge make Ω Universitas the first actual version of Weltall

Not necessarily. Originally, it was said to be a project to be a prequel, but when licensing issues got in the way, and the goal looked bleak, they decided to make it a stand-alone story.

@LordRuth I think it had to do with legal issues. They couldn't very well make a Namco game that ties directly into a Squaresoft game, after all. But they do have plenty of nods to the original Xenogears throughout the series, like this fight and the character name Uzuki, as well as the quote in the first Xenosaga which we also see in Xenogears, "And ye shall be as gods." I'm sure they'd have loved to have tied the two titles together into one larger continuity, though.

Xenogears it's the end of the Xenosaga Storyline, besides, it's not the end of Xenogears story because there's also a Xenogears Episode 6 (it takes place sometime after the game). You should read Xenogears Perfect Works. I seriously recommend it... (oh... I hate my english... jajajajajaja)

@gamester512 Yes and no. Since the original creator of Xenogears got the rights of Xenogears taken away when he left Square Enix he no longer could do anything else with the series. Xenosaga was the birth of something that is "Coincidently" similar to Xenogears with several cameos. Unfortunately the producer only had full involvement with the 1st game, they rushed him with the second game and he had absolutely nothing to do with the third. Poor guy never seems to get the time he needs.

@Xadskad I have my doubts on this theory. I think some of them really wished that's what it could have been, but they knew that it wouldn't end that way. Episodes 1-3 of Xenosaga, to my knowledge, would have basically been episode 1 of the actual Xenogears story. Maybe. I can't say for certain because I don't know everything with Xenosaga because I couldn't get through episode 2 and never bothered to buy 3. But, from what I've heard, Xenosaga wasn't being entirely faithful to the timeline at all

@Xenofreak Blame Square-Enix, not Xenosaga, Monolith couldn't get back the rights to Xenogears from them and had to rewrite it. Episodes 1-3 of Xenosaga are indeed altered version of Parts 1-3 of Xenogears. The imagining of the story had to occur to avoid lawsuits. But, Omega Id, Abel, and a host of other "cameos" are there as treats to the Xenogears fans. And I know from experience, Ep. 2 is a game for masochists. The hardest and most irritating due to it's lack of equipable anything.

i played xenosaga 1, liked it. i mean, it was definately NO Xenogears, but it was nostalgia. then popped in xenosaga 2. got as far as the first save point, noticed the animation, voice actors, and character models were completely changed, and never played it again.
