@ChuckLevins Save the sppologies for when they are needed. People are fucking babies on here. Thanks for the good info, I will buy one on monday from you. I will call you then..
This box is like "fast food", nobody will talk about it in 10 years. Actually it is a software with a controller - not real hardware. It depends on a computer. I will be thrown away like obsolete computer hardware in few years. It will never reach the status of a "classic" drum machine like a Akai MPC 2000 XL or a TR-808....
@AnalogAudio1 ive used the 2000xl for 10 years now. I've had the maschine for 5 months....mpc is collecting dust in the corner of the room now. sooooo yea, your wrong man.
@AnalogAudio1 making good beats isn't about the "status" of a "classic" piece of hardware. Who cares if anyone talks about the gear, now or 10 years from now? The people who think they are impressing people with their gear are the ones who can't impress them with their beats.
@sketchyj I was not talking about quality of music and wether the success of music has to do with equipment. I was talking just about longevity of instruments.
@AnalogAudio1 I own a Maschine and in the past I've owned all kinds of Roland and Korg samplers and synths. There's nothing flimsy about this controller, it's made of metal and the knobs and buttons are plenty sturdy. My problem has always been in the past that the sample library was never included and it is a huge undertaking organizing and categorizing samples easily. With Maschine, it's all right there, ready to go. Why pay more?
im not very computer smart and ive never used a drum machine before, but i really like the idea of making beats on one. would you reccomend this for beginners?
@tintala No, brethren, its not just to minmize mouse clicks. It makes you workflow alot easier. Chopping samples has never been easier. its so integrated with the software, you don't even have to look at your computer screen if you don't want to. you can do everything from just looking at the hardware itself.
yeh well, Don't get me wrong but I love my maschine as well, but if you get yourself a decent control surface it doesn't matter if your just producing with your DAW only you can still minimise your contact with your mouse !, that said..... yes Maschine is great !
@ierapetra23 idk why you would want to, its alot better to use the software it was made for (trust me, I have an APC 40 and I tried to use it with traktor and it was pretty much impossible to use, but yes, you can use it with any DAW program, you just got to assign each button individually, which sucks arse, but good luck anyway :)
I'm a multi-instrument songwriter - will this thing accept guitar, bass, keys, drums, etc (anything). I need to be able to write a song start to finish in the typical style (verse, verse, chorus, verse, bridge chorus, chorus - you know --- the standard stuff.
Also into jazz/hip-hop - do you think this is the unit I need?
Hi, I'm thinking about buying this Maschine 1.5, but im totally new to beatmaking. so I don't wanna start off with somethin' too complicated, but this one seems quite simple and not so expensive !!! I would like to do samples off vinyls and ofcourse compose my own songs. what do I need to do that ? Maschine 1.5, Screen Monitor ? a PC ? A Turntable for sampling off vinyls ???? PLease help me out. Thanks !!!
Does anybody know the name of the song/soundtrack he sampled from his ipod? Maybe from a disney classic? I can't figure it out and it makes me f.... crazy!
sO HOW DO YOU MAKE CHANGES WITHIN PATTERNS FOR "SONG MODE" PURPOSES...SAY IF I DROP OUT A KICK AT THE 8TH BAR...IT CHANGES THE PATTERN FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION OF THE SONG....HELP!!
@warchild1976 dont forget the sounds wich are incredible plus if you would play one in the store you will def buy one,i did too
i mean some synths or samplers go for like 1000 bucks and more and its always limited, this maschine aint limited at all something better you wont find
@warchild1976: A good midi keyboard costs the same. The maschine comes along with perfectly matched software, so you dont have to use the mouse at all. It is an instrument. Check the vids of KnockSquared to see what I mean. bye
good vid most other vids have skipped swing...was wondering about that. I used the MV8000 and it has a hardcore swing/quant settings, then I used ReGroove in Reason and it is the tightest thing I've heard bar none including Logic and the MPC, but that's my taste...so to see you tweak the swing on this and get pretty tight results is major to me..seriously leaning toward getting this thing and ditching my MV (thought I never say that...)
@wakko1999 swing is dope, but hey why not play everything on non quantize ,like a drummer :) swing is kool but it always sounds to perfect wich i dont like :) i bought this maschine yesterday and the sounds and workflow is amazing!!!!!!!!!!
I have all the factory sounds from every drum machine made in the last 20 years including the AKAI MPC range with MPC programs and much more all in high quality 24Bit .wav. Perfect to load strait in to your MPC / Maschine or sampler of your choice.
Trust me, you want it I got it I have everything!
Contact me for a full list and remember to keep those beatz bangin!
u don't show how u made Maschine read your ipod... how the preferences have to be changed in maschine... what u type... this tutorial is simply USELESS
I'm not liking the slicing process. Otherwise it's cool. It's a good deal for the price. All the additional hardware and software needed to bring it to full potential is also a deterrent though,.
@cortezforever I think when I went to check it out in the store I figured you would have to get a host DAW and sound card and all that. It's very tricky when you are trying to figure out a set up. I've had a pad controller, A key board with pads I have an MPC and a 25 key keyboard and I can get through a track with any of those. It can be difficult to figure ou what you need and what you don't.
@thundavolt man the maschine has somuch effects and shit ,you dont need a daw,the soft is your daw ,but they made the option to bring it to ya daw so you can master mix the way you do,but trust me the efefcts that come with this maschine is what no other software has ,real talk ,and offcourse you need a soundcard if you wanne bring quality to the table :)
@cortezforever A key board and Logic kill this thing any day and if you add a Pad controller it's totally over. I also don't feel turning those knobs to slice. That's how I felt when I checked it out in the store.
@thundavolt thats good for you !!! this maschine is perfect
it sounds,it workflow how it samples,
it doesnt matter wich is better, its what the artist can work the best with, and trust me the sounds that come withit you wont find in any hardware or soft outhere :)
@BeatsNRhyms That's the main thing. If you are comfortable with what you are working with its all good. I wouldn't go as far as to call it perfect but it gets the job done. I got interested in it because of the effects and stuff, but as always the hype died down for me wen I realized there arre companies that are dedicated to effects and use much better algorithms. It cool though. It turns your computer into an MPC like device with out a host application.
@thundavolt yeah i feel you,for me i use cubase pro tools and some hardware stuff for effects and extra sounds ,but i shurely was amazed by it effects ,you can compare the compression to a certain compression j dilla used,so for me thats a big thing i like :) but yeah its whatever you need/want for me this tool was perfect cause its doing what i cant in pro tools(size sampling) my cubase also samples but not the way i want :)
This is indeed a limited demo, but where Maschine excels is it's ease of use and workflow and the way it integrates with the control software. Working with Maschine is like "playing" a live instrument, rather than pointing and clicking a mouse.
@hipnova exactly.. how could somene NOT likethe slice function its great. i can sample loops easily from my turntable and instantly have drums..fx...main hook? samples all off a record and in about a minute. ya live does it but Maschine is just differant ...peace
@mynus303 hello how accurate is the slice process? and how is it done with maschine? I really need this because i haven't sampled one record yet, this could save me years!
@cortezforever ok the slicing is as accurate as possible set you own slice grid>>such as 1/8th notes>> 1/16th notes etc>> you simply plug in your turntable or output from mixer into selected input on card>>> choose the input being used on your soundcard (in MASCHINE) and maschine wil recgnz the audio signal from your vinyl>>audio source etc>>select external sampling on MASCHINE click SLICE>> then you hit apply>>done then its sliced, diced and you can simply press "apply" to pads
hi i just got the maschine and i cant hear or play any beats but the controller itself lights up when i hit them, which means its getting signal. please help....

does the software load up when you plug in in the usb?? It should.
Check your audio settings within maschine. It should be set to your audio interface.
Also check in your cpu control pannel that your audio interface is selected.
Also did you load a kit or program in it.
Are you running stand alone or as a plugin?
