The only good actor in this (besides Glenn Ford, in a sad career nosedive), is Matt Craven (Disturbia, Jacob's Ladder, etc.), who plays Steve. I thought he was excellent as Dusty in The Life of David Gale, and in an episode of Without a Trace, where they told the story from a missing boy's parents' POV.

Great slasher from 1980. When horror movies were proper horror movies, relying on atmosphere rather than CGI or the 'knowing' pseudo psychological clap trap that we have to put up with today.

The music is great, and by Lance Rubin who scored a lot of the TV series Dallas. In fact, the same pieces of music were used in Dallas' cliffhanger episodes, especially end of season 8.

Along with Salems Lot which came out the year before, this one of my favourite horror/slasher movies.

When this was released it was cut up, and roundly criticized for "advertising murder", but looking back it's a pretty good 80's horror film. I love how brutal some of the killings are. Exploitative? Maybe, it's very effective.

@Mr89Amerigo A couple reasons, 1. The changing of the most important thing being from the story itself to graphics and gore. 2. Another is they are just plain running out of good ideas and have to use either bad ones, rip another older movie off, or do a remake (also pretty much copying and very unoriginal but can be good on occasion)

movie is classis but i just now realize how stupid the broad at the beginning is...she gets choked out, fakes her death so to escape from the car, then runs about 3 car lengths away and stops. Then when he grabs her from the other car, she runs a little bit away again. then when she see the familiar person she thinks can help her, she doesnt even tell him "there's this guy that I'm kinda running from, he already almost choked me to death in a car over there and he's still in here.." wtf? LOL

she keeps running around there after escaping the strangler in the car but can't she just leave there? It's so dark in this scene that it's hard to see where she's at. Thank you for posting. I love this film but have only seen it once, years ago.
