Great Videos by the way and some nice fish.....But the thing puts me off.....Think every lake should ban alcohol from all lakes.....i used to fish a local water in ashford kent but put off by pissheads carp fishing.....shouting,swearing and being loud. Not that i'm branding you a pisshead but think it should be about fishing not a piss-up like on some lakes in kent.

The lake i use now has a ban on alcohol and i'm glad they have strict rules.

You treat the fish very well, you always put them in your sack and always chuck a bit of water on them. I was also wondering how much is your rod, reel, pod and bite alarm set costing you, cos im gna upgrade all my carp gear in a few months and needed some ideads on prices.

hi m8, now this may make me sound a bit of a tool but just humer me, in this vid the little common that was feeding in the margins you said hes back with a m8, do you think they comunikate an tell each outher whair good food is and do they have m8s that they like swiming around with? cos ive noticed a nice coi whair i fish an it seems to be with a mirror all the time

@garyfromtheUK My local carp lake holds 3 kois that never seperate, they are seen cruising around the margins and because 6 eyes are better than 2, they are incredibly hard to catch.

many of the large carp i caught in this series were hooked within feet of the bank and thsat common within bloody inches!!

BUT

they are powerful fish so they run, what do you think they do rollover and give in?

and anyway whats the point in having no fight????

I now use an Olympus FE-330 for my self takes and a dummer/timer conmbination for the exposure (still trying toget it right)

My camcorder is a JVC everio but its now in need of replacment

it been shown on korda underwater that if you are catching tench, your rigs are spot on and the carp should not have trouble with them. i would say its a good sign to catch a tench, saying that though, i do not have tench on the waters i fish.

Thx, yes that common is a spectacular looking carp. Really deep bronze colours. I had it again a year later on the same bait at the other end of the lake from the channel. Thats in a later blog possibly 'Return to manicure'?

"obligatory tench" lmao, i know that feeling, the sods at my local pit have started feeding off the surface just like the carp, so u see that bread sucked down, only to find a tinker on the end.

Yes the tench!

I was once on a small pool in the fens stalking one of the larger inhabitants.

All of a sudden the lilies where i spotted the beast (and placed my floater) started to tremble and slowly but surley the bait disapeared under a lilie and the line started to peel of....

I waited a second then whooosh! i struck!

Only to see a 1.8lb 'golden tench' come flying thru the air!!

I was 25 and that was 25yrs ago.

I didn't know there could be this much strategy in catching a carp. I'm from the US and we can't stand them b/c they're an invasive species. But I guess more power to you. Cool video.

It's an odd thing, that in some countries the carp is as you say an ' invasive species'.

MrFitzz is a YouTube carp blogger from Detroit.

He catches loads of long thin commons, some do go big too.

The natural state of the carp is to be common so mirrors are rare unless bred and stocked.

We are lucky in the UK as we live in the

'Heart of Carp Country'

Yeah. They ruin our native fish species habitat/spawning grounds because they eat all the plant life. Or they suck up the eggs that have already been layed. We really don't appreciate them, but they do put up one hell of a fight. If you catch a carp you cannot return it to the water. It would be like if someone introduced a foreign species of fish into your ecosystem and they started to kill of all of the carp that you enjoy. I hope you understand why we don't care for them in the USA! Cheers!

have you ever fished up north?at present im on a mission to catch a common its about 25lb on a old stocking pond.there are about 12 fish in but iv had most of em but this ones driveing me mad.sure at times it is winding me up but he will not win this battle.when i say up north i mean sheffield area.
