Great quality sound. Just wondering, Looks likes there still playing with the amps. Direct in to the presonus? Wasn't there any leaks into the drum mics and make it difficult to eq and mix?
@dadio2002 Pete replies: Thanks for the compliments! No direct signals, both amps mic'd. Of course there are leaks, as usual, but you'll just have to deal with them the best way you can. Most of the time you can reduce the leaks or fit them in the mix. Can't remember if there was any difficulties with this one. One of the most important things in a recording situation like this is that the band's overall volume must be in balance, so that the leaks would be evenly balanced as well.
@BrainDamage769 Yes, 24x16. Heads are Remo Powerstroke3 and Ambassador. Also Falam slam patch on batter head and (I think) wood beaters. Could have been felt beaters thou, can't remember what I was using at that time. And a small pillow inside.
thats some great improvising...ive heard that some of the best stuff comes from just playin on impulse, and just having fun...thats what we do as well.. great job to all 3 of you.
@pyhtio yeeeeah baby! that's what i wanted to read! man, i must say that you gave me the encourage to do stuff like this... i will do a proyect with this style... up and down, up and down in music feelings! thank you! i want to see another one of these!
@SOLRACZAID17 Our bass player is had by Custom bass w/Bartolini pickups & EMG active eq, EBS MultiComp, DigiTech Bad Monkey, Jacques Bat Fuzz, Ibanez WH-10, Hughes&Kettner QC421 amp
I think a lot has to be said for the way he's playing. Sure the drums have been tuned and recorded well and most probably EQ'd, compressed and balanced but he's also playing the things fecking tight with a real good overall dynamic. That after all is one of the most important contributions to a good sound. Awesome playing, reminds me of Stewart Copeland.

I think the most important factors are low tuning, Remo coated Emperors (on toms), no dampening (or minimal dampening on bass drum) and close-miking. Don't know much about post-processing, but I think a little extra comes from there too. :) (guitar player did the mix)
Thanks! The sound was mixed by the guitar player, I really don't know a lot about mixing. But if you want good sounding videos, you should start by getting a few decent microphones and an audio interface. With those you just record the audio separately and you can combine it with the video in a free program called VirtualDub for example. This video was done with iMovie thou, which comes free with almost every mac. I've used VirtualDub in many of my older vids.
When recording, it was all saved on 8 separate tracks on the computer. All mixing, EQ:ing etc was done afterwards. You can do the same with US-1641 and Cubase.
truly legendary,my french friend,5 stars for me a treat just to watch great show keep them coming when you've got a day of and nothing planed very talented, peace.
Thanks! The audio for this clip was actually recorded with Logic running on Leopard 10.5 :) We have done some recording with this configuration and we've had no problems!
There's also a SM57 on snare and I think the toms are miced with Beyerdynamic Opus 87's. Pete mixed the audio so there's some EQ / compressor etc. post-processing.
The video and audio were edited together with iMovie HD. My PC had a hard time figuring out the video format produced by 500D, lucky there's a macbook at my work.
