  • its crazy to see how much pipe band drumming has changed since then

  • RIP Maestro

  • This video is priceless. VERY cool. Wish it included the whole set. For those wondering: Jim Kilpatrick said he played with Alex at Shotts from '73 to '79. His last year with Shotts was 1979, after which he went to Polkemmet until returning to Shotts in 1987. So not only is KP not in this; he wasn't even with Shotts in 1980 when they won the World's and best d/c. But he was in '73.

  • Is the Cameronian rant not called "Come, sons of dogs, we will give you flesh"? or something related in Gaelic?

  • I am loving the hair on the guy to the right of Alex! Now that is a full head of hair!

  • @fdnypiper That's Arthur Cook from L & B haha

  • Does anyone have have any videos of the whole shotts band from around 1980-1985.

  • Amazing, i bought his composition book the other day, loving it. Did ya see the guy going past on the bike at 1.08 whats the craic there. LOL Was there no barriers in 82

  • alex duthart is a ttl legend man , and i feel so priveliged tht a play with the drum sticks he makes

  • pipe drummers totally unique technique and totally amazing.

  • Love the tuning of the snares... a lower-pitched, heavy/clean sound.

  • Does anyone have a video of the whole set, Donald Cameron, Cameronian Rant, Pretty Marion?

  • awesome drumming!! what I remember most about the best of Scottish technique.. lots of fast singles and press rolls.

  • Big Alex, the best ever ;-)

  • arthur cooke makes an arse of the 1st unison ....lol

  • arthur cooke is an arse

  • what is that guy doing on the bike in the backround?

  • He's holding it for John Burgess

  • Yea, it's Alex, Arthur Cooke, Jim Hutton, can't see the rest, if the year was posted we would know else was in there, definitely Bert Barr in there somewhere but can't see him.

  • That would be Jimmy Hutton.....say I

  • my father says its kilpatrick.

i wouldnt take his word for it.

  • @Visurit

Doubt if its that arse Kilpatrick mate.. Never was & never will be good enough... He couldn't even get a game carrying anyone in that core's drum case in them days or even now....He just has never been in that class and never will be even though he thinks he is....

  • @Tankneehighs What is your problem mate youre the Arse kilpatrick is a legend get a grip !!

  • @Tankneehighs

OK, you have just shown what little you know about this corps.

    Jim played under Duthart.

Next time you want to talk badly about a drummer, consider their actual accomplishments. Here are a few, just off the top of my head (split into a couple posts):

-SIXTEEN TIME world solo drumming champion

-Winning the World Drum Corps Championship for a record breaking eleven years in a row between 1988 and 1998.

  • @Tankneehighs

-the only leading drummer ever to win the 'Grand Slam', which consists of winning all five major drum corps championships in one season in 1991.

-This run coincided with him actually winning 10 major drumming championships in a row over three seasons between 1990 and 1992.

-Major endorsment deals with Pearl Music Worldwide, Randall May International, Remo, Roland and Vic Firth.

  • @Tankneehighs

Don't get me wrong; Duthart was a pioneer, and was one of the best ever to put on a drum. But for you to make ridiculous comments like "...he just has never been in that class and never will be, even though he thinks he is..." makes you look beyond uneducated
