BTW, since we're on the subject, it was mentioned on the GFAQS boards that apparently you can turn off the BG Videos. I had no idea you could do that. Is this true? Any idea how?
Wanted to mention that I've tried AAA'ing I Ran and Red Alert on Beginner (and Basic) but when I turn HM's off, it doesn't work. Even when they're on and I get everything, still no AAA. What am I missing...? I can vid it for you tomorrow to show you if you like. Although I still got a ton of vids to upload. XD
That's weird because I just AAA'd it foot only after reading this to make sure they didn't pull a fast one on me.
I Ran, on the other hand actually does have a score requirement. Unfortunately, after two attempts, I don't think a Basic AAA is obtainable on that song. There's too few actual notes for whatever score they're looking for, a 53 hand combo and 20,000,000+ points didn't do it.
As I've said before, it's the ONLY criticism I have of their new scoring method. Konami either needs to bump the requirement down on every difficulty, or an individual realistic requirement needs to be done per song like it is in something like Guitar Hero. Separate foot scores and hand marker scores might be a good idea too. If they did it'd be similar to having separate scores for singles and doubles play. Maybe they won't even have to share the same chart then.
Seperate foot Scores/Hand Marker scores = EXACTLY!! I said that from the beginning! Glad someone else thinks the same way too! :o
AAA Requirements = It's not so much the Difficulty, imo, it's more the fact that some of them can be done without Hand Markers... It just seems kinda sloppy that they overlooked that part. I dunno... Thoughts?
The whole thing just screams of a development team being spread too thin IMO. Older DDR's by that group didn't have these issues cuz they were only doing one a year, not to mention that most of the work was already done since 70% of the songs were old material from the arcade, it was just a cut and paste job. Since HP1 though, they've been hell bent on all new songs and charts and now with DDRX actually having the majority of it's game be new content, it's not surprising to see this happening.
Well, new content is good and if anything, this should be a refining process, don't you think?
I for one am happy with the direction they took with HP Series and how it's come along thus far. I look forward eagerly to HP3. But I hope that small complaints DO get rectified. And I SERIOUSLY hope they drop the ball and include Online Play. That would be awesome. What do you say? Think it's a high possibility? Think we should email them or something to let them now? lol. :P
Concerning the AAA requirements, that's partially them experimenting with new stuff, and partially them overlooking some crucial things during testing. It should be either one way or the other. I'd say foot only scoring should go by the current setup in the arcade, hand scoring just needs to be done either one or two ways...
A. Have a cutoff score for each song like GH or
B. Lower the score requirement per foot difficulty. 6's are OK at 60 mil, but 7's and up I've found to be nightmares.
I like the new direction myself, it brings DDR a bit closer to actual dancing IMO. I'm gonna be keeping a close eye on the progress of the new Disney Mix. It maybe a sign of things to come gameplay wise if they add anything else to it or change up the scoring system.
O_o. Are you saying that it's impossible to get an AAA on that difficulty?!
53 Hand Combo... I'll give it a shot and tell you how many I get. In fact, I'll vid for you my best record on the Records Screen for comparison purposes.
I'm sure they'll tighten it up for HP3. :o

Don't you just love the part where she looks like she's about to fall off the motorcycle? XD

Yeah, I thought it's was funny that they kept that part in the video cut.

I've never seen an option for it. If there is, color me surprised.

My thoughts exactly!
