Yes, the remake changes the story beyond recognition. It was terrible. But at least we got a lot of good laughs out of the remake because of the bumbling ineptness of the makers.
Fully agreed. The remake was a horrid insult to the first, and it departed vastly from the original point of the film. I thought the director should publicly apologize for claiming it was a "faithful" adaptation when he set the story in a completely different place, with a different background, with a completely different /reason/ for everything being done, and then just stole dialog from the original.
thanks. I was wanting to see/hear a genuine real life point of view on this movie before I saw it. I just watched the original and thought it was great. I didnt think this one could top it and it sounds like I was right. so... thanks!

By gum that was rate good, also 3 penfolds. I've not seen the film but this made it seem like it's a laugh (in a critical way) :D.
