It's amazing that they can even strip the leaves from the stalks, let alone at them! I tell you, if those are proper stinging nettles then my hands would have swelled up to the point that I can't pick the leaves up before I had the chance to eat any of them.

it's a plant that grows as a weed largely throughout Europe, although is found in other parts of the world as well (including the USA) to some degree. it's common to see an entire patch of them.

the leaves and stalks are covered in hundreds of tiny stingers that will HURT if you touch them. it's not fun to be wearing shorts and brush up against a nettle plant.
