  • awesome song, almost make me cry

  • Great version of this classic...The versions by the Bee Gees and Michael Bolton are excellent but nothing beats the original by the Animals!

  • Gotta Love ...Eric !

  • I the like horse.

  • @SultanJadore the Bee Gees wrote it for Otis Redding

but unfortunately, he died before he ever sing it

so they ended up doing this song for themselves

  • oh...the better version of this song....the music, the voice, the group.....they are the betters !!!....

  • Apocalyptic

  • one of the best covers EVER!

  • It's not the original. It was originally written for otis redding. But the bee gee's got it somehow.

i am very partial to ray lamotagnes version. And i usually would throw them all down to portray how much better Ray's version of this song is, BUT Eric Burdon really did a good job. Thumbs up from me!

  • @SultanJadore

The Bee Gees got it "somehow"???!?!?!?!?!

Robin and Barry Gibb wrote it, THAT'S how they "got it."

  • Thumbs UP UP UP and AWAAAAY! Thank you for playing this!

  • THE BEST JUST THE BEST

  • Amazing, Eric really has become my favourite singer.

  • not big on the bee gees, but they certainly wrote one of the greatest songs every written. this version is awesome. i believe, the greatest version of this song, would have been Otis Redding, whom the song was written for. but he died.

  • I wish eric burdon and janis joplin could have done this song together.

OMG. They are both so awesome

  • 14 people dont love anybody

  • STILLLLL the very veryb est version of all ... i LOVE it! nobody can beat burdon and the girl in the background (who by the way is this??)

  • @odysseetheater

I have checked the album jacket, liner and disk...as well as googled until my fingers bled. I can not identify his singing partner on this recording. This song is truly a gift! I wore out my record back in the early 70's and had to purchase a second copy!

  • @ddebenedictis .. yes.. the same with me.... i also searched and searched my ass off... whoever she was.. she did a fabulous job.... as to my opinion far away better as the version of the bee gees or any other..thks . for trying to find..... if i come along the info i´ll give it to you, cause they sound extremely good together.....have a nice day..

  • cool likie

  • OMG......I have the VINYL of this which I wore out....because i played it so much. I will still play this song ALL THE TIME. He is fabulous! This version is from 1968!!!!

If you like this version check out the Janis Joplin version....only hers competes.

  • Best version of this song, so original , !!!!!!

  • Original? BeeGees wrote this song for Otis Redding

  • Awful song - no matter how Eric sings it

  • @anonymusum Trolls everywhere

  • @IMAdaniel

The song is primitive - it has something to do with musical knowledge and nothing with trolling

  • @anonymusum Are you insinuating simplicity makes songs bad?

  • @IMAdaniel Burden was an overfed gnome. Am I trolling, or do you get it?

  • @mvonwahlde You forgot to mention how long his hair was.

  • @IMAdaniel That would be true! No point in warring over it!

  • Que maravilha! Grande musica. Grande Eric Burdon & Animals!

  • what the hell is justin beiber doing on the same page as this thats the biggest insult to eric

  • I have never heard a singer sing like Eric on this song : Very powerful, Intense emotion, Passion, ......Eric´s voice had all that on this song !!!!!!!

  • who is the female singer here with Eric Burdon??

  • @SuperNova2176 I'm pretty sure it's Maggie Bell

  • no the original was by the bee gees

and plus nina simone does the best version you bunch of crackers

  • @timothypnolan Nina Simone's version is okay, but she doesn't get the song. This song is about a whiny young boy feeling the bite of rejection for the first time. Eric Burdon gets it: loud, young, snotty, and hopelessly immature and hopelessly full of longing. A great song.

  • @mvonwahlde I think you're confusing your interpretation with some kind of objective truth.

  • @timothypnolan I think you must be the person who is confused. I'm just voicing my opinion.

  • @timothypnolan man you got to got off the crack and save some of that little pea brain.

  • Respond to this video...

  • Thanks dad for showing me this song, and we have had some great times to this song. This song will always remind me of are great days.

  • I fucken love horses now because of this

  • drags on a bit mate

  • people are stupid!

  • Nice rendition Eric!

  • Bee Gees wrote a great song, but the Animals' version is by far the best. This is the real young, loud and snotty.

  • Bee Gees wrote a great song, but the Animals' version is by far the best.

  • @mvonwahlde Bee gees did not write this. Animals and Janis were performing it live b4 Bee gees ever had a damn band.

  • @hawgrider1200 upon actually researching the issue I found that I was wrong. bee gees did write the song and recorded it in 1967 a little bit more than one year b4 the animals recording. so sorry.

  • @hawgrider1200 barry gibb wrote this song otis redding to sing he died before he could record itso bg recorded it himself

  • @hawgrider1200 The Bee Gees sure as heck wrote this in 1967.Barry and Robin wrote it and it was released in July 1967. The Animals and Joplin covered it after 1967. Pretty easy to verify online.

Still trying to confirm the who the female vocals are on this. It's not credited on the record.

  • Eric Burdon......my favorite Limey after David Bowie.......

  • This song was on the "Love Is" album. It came out the same time as the Beatles "White Album". Both were double albums. And both classics. But of course the Beatles being more popular won all the raves. Burdon always changed his style (War, blues, rock). This was from a great album that had my favorite blues song on it, "As the Years Go Passing By". That's heaven!!!!

  • pura sangre!!!

  • that's real.

  • I dunno if lots know this but a 16-year-old Andy Summers (later The Police) is the guy playing guitar on this

  • @oHelmslyo MAJOR mistake...he was actually 24 at this point!

  • @oHelmslyo Not even that, 25! What's wrong with me today

  • 10 people gave this a thumbs down.........what are they goofy ......guess they don't like horses.....

  • True, what were they thinking, I love horses! ;)

  • @HippieJimi

You are right. What is the relation betwwen the horses and the song? WHO KNOWS

  • @reggaeton138 Right 138....damned if I know.....but the song still Rocks.....

  • I agree with bella3341, Erics Soul and Passion beats the Bee Gees version by a considerable margin, at least IMO. GR8 song!

  • GOOD GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Uncredited on the "Love Is" final Animals LP; any credits on compilations for the Female vocalist(s) on this track? Thank you.

  • i love this song... this interpretation is wonderful, and the bee gees is just as great, regardless of who wrote it, both are AMAZING!!

  • It makes no difference if the Bee Gees wrote this song and interpreted it as well, NOBODY BUT NOBODY SINGS THIS SONG WITH THE SOUL AND PASSION THAT THE ERIC SANG IT.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @bella3341 You are right. NOBODY...my skin burns every i listen this song. In Mexico we say "SE ME PONE LA PIEL DE GALLINA"....chiken´s skin...bye.

  • @bella3341 You are completely wright !! Few people in the world has got to sing like Eric did on this song

  • ¡Qué intenso!

  • never heard this version before - really great!

  • never heard this version before..its good...how could it be bad

  • Try the BeeGees (original) version !! I am not saying this is bad, just 2nd BEST !!

And that isn't bad, gotta love Eric, too

  • awesome

  • *****

  • This is better than anything by Meatloaf, Boston or Billy Joel. This is before Classic Rock.

  • beautiful voice eric. love you.

  • You can feel the pain in Eric's voice, its tangible. He is just such an incredible singer and can portray such intense emotion x

  • Very powerful! x

  • A versão está ótima, mas ninguém merece esses cavalos!

    Excellente version, but that image...

  • A versão está ótima, mas ninguém merece esses cavalos!

  • *****

  • This is just great...thanks for the upload

  • what's with the horse scene?

  • @durgaaa Its a situation that happend to Nietzche when he was almost crazy because a sexual deseas. He huged a horse because the master was hitting it. Erick Buron express in his songs the love to the life and the love all over everything.

  • @valcepe ---because a sexual WHAT ? ? ? He did WHAT to a horse? What book did you get that from ?

  • @durgaaa Its a situation that happend to Nietzche when he was almost crazy because a sexual deaseas. He huged a horse because the master was hitting it. Erick Buron express in his songs the love to the life and the love all over everything.

  • i love nina simone. and i love the beegees....but this version absolutely ROCKS and is untouchable.

  • Great version!

  • fuck michael bolton

  • This was THE heavy metal version....

  • NOT the best version of this song but really interesting. The Bee Gees performed this Barry Gibb song the best of course. But good covers are fun esp. Eric Burden.

  • Eric Burdon was something else!...

  • @eirbiz was? is!

  • Animals - Take me to CHURCH!

  • me gusta oirla pero me gustaria ver el video de esta si es que lo hay porque no le he encontrado

  • I like the Animas and grew up with them (and have all their records), but this version doesn't even COMPARE with the Bee Gees version. The Gibb Brothers put MUCH more feeling into it. Sorry......

  • @CJurasin Yeah! but the Gibbs are dead and Eric isn't! So sorry but Eric put Soooo MUCH More feeling into it and still does... THAT'S your OPINION and opinions are like assholes... and everybody has one... LOL!!

  • @jfp718 Nope.......two of the three members (Barry and Robin) are still alive and STILL recording. The last time I saw Eric Burden (in Spokane WA) about 10 years ago, he was performing DRUNK and disappointed everyone who came to see him.......including myself. ;-( Sorry, but THEMS the facts.

  • @eyewarnedyou DRUNK? I don't think so. I have seen hundreds of Eric's performances and he has never been drunk and has NEVER disappointed a crowd.

  • @lt1bird348 I was there in Spokane also.....and everyone around us said the same thing....he appeared to be "high" on something.

  • @CJurasin He is a bad asthmatic. Could he have been ill?

  • @lt1bird348 No, it wasn't breathing, wheezing nor coughing.....it was his behavior.

  • De lo mejor de ANIMALS... *****

  • ¡¡¡¡¡Impresionante!!!!! De lo mejor de ANIMALS... *****

  • Brutal!!!!!

  • a picture of horses or shoes o whatever....... WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SONG¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Wow honey,it's so deeply into my soul!!!

  • I LOVED THIS SONG

  • <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

  • Billy Corgan and Robert Smith did a cover of this song - check it out.

  • Oh boy this song is good and Eric the best

  • what about the horse?

  • Eric shows the influence of motown music. he is a white man with black soul

  • @jamich7 cual video?

  • SUPER

ich liebe dieses lied. eric is einer der besten. hör mal "ring of fire" :-)

    GaM

  • llooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo vee youuuuuuuuuu

  • This is the best version of this song, much better then BGs

  • La mejor versión....ERIC ERES LO MÁXIMO...TE AMOO

  • Eric, eres ÚNICO.....TE AMOOO

  • simon xDD

  • To Love Somebody" is the second single released by the Bee Gees from their third LP, Bee Gees 1st. As stated many times by Barry Gibb, their manager Robert Stigwood wanted Barry to write a soul song for Otis Redding for him to record.[citation needed] Barry, along with Robin came up with "To Love Somebody", a soulful ballad in the style of Sam & Dave or The Rascals. Redding died in a plane crash before he could record the song.

  • la mejor version in the world!!!!

  • i love this version! thx for posting!

  • esta rola es para escucharla con un buen toque de mota

  • que cancion de los Eric y los animales me hubiese gustado con otras imagenes

  • I love this song, I prefer it over BGs version because the Burdon's feeling on the performance is supreme. Thanks for the good memmories

  • Heard it 41 years ago and never forgot it!

  • Of all the pics the person who posted this could've put as the main screen, did you have to put several horses in their natural habitat?! I would've put a photo of E.Burdon during the time this song was released; and I would've put the date The Animals covered it. How could the BG's have written & sung this when Janis Joplin made a cover of this song?BG's?! never understood them! What were they some turncoat traitor rock band that turned disco cuz it was more commercial & popular?!Opportunists!

  • You don't know what it's like . . .

  • @MikeBruceSullivan: The BeeGees wrote this song and released it in 1967. Joplin didn't do it until 1969.

All professional artists are opportunists if they want to stay in business. That's why it's called "The Music BUSINESS".

  • the best version of this song!

  • @Hennaschnecke I agree the BEST version of this song.I'd rather prefer it was 1st written and sung by The Animals rather than rock's enemy, Disco music's BeeGee's.I didn't see a musical instrument in the hands of the BG's like guitar or drums which takes talent to play & to elevate the soul! I'm not even sure if it was 1st written by the BG's-that's like sayin "Please don't Let Me be Misunderstood" 1st written & sung by doofy disco babe/band when we all know it always belongs to The Animals!

  • Minor point here, but Barry Gibb is a proficient guitarist and Maurice was a decent pianist/organist. (What did Eric Burden play besides microphone?) Also, recall that the BeeGees would've made the Rock n Roll hall based strictly on their pre-disco chart hits. That said, this IS an excellent rendition of a GREAT composition by Barry. Kudos to Eric for all the great songs and memories.

  • Odd you say that, I never seen Burdon with an instrument in his hands either.... but liek you said, it takes talent to do that. Ohh, btw, All the BG's played instruments, and they played on all of their pre disco albums.

  • @Hennaschnecke A versão está ótima, mas ninguém merece esses cavalos!

    Excellente version, but that image...

  • Beautiful song and beautiful version.

  • Thank you for posting this video! I was often listening to this Animals version when I was about 30 years old, and I have not heard it since then - it is 35 years ago. Now I recognize all of it and it brings good memories.

  • I am proudly mexican and I agee with all you guys . I love BG'S music.

  • Let's not forget who wrote this beautiful love song....the Great BeeGees.....a song written for Otis at the behest of their manager Bob Stigwood......What an incredible group of musicians.....BG's, Otis, Eric B, and the great Robert Stigwood......we music lovers are blessed!!!!!!!!

  • Eric, You'll always be a part of me

  • Wow... So different from Janis' version, which is the first one I heard.

I'm fourteen, and I love both Janis and The Animals equally. I cannot figure out why my generation should be attracted to Miley Cyrus/Jonas Bros. crap when you could listen to awesome music like this?

  • There's good stuff now, and the internet makes it accessible.

Historically, the music industry has been fixed on the 'big score.' If a sound doesn't promise to score big, they don't want to invest their money in it.

And most kids just want to 'fit in' with the group scene, rather than making their own scene and risking rejection.

  • Modern stuff is meant to be quick and easy to produce and consume, like a big mac; and is just as forgettable. Older music... older music is more like a steak compared to a big mac: takes more effort to prepare, more effort to eat, but infinitely more rewarding.

Good music is 90% art, 10% commerce. These days, its the other way round.

  • haha my thoughts exactly

  • i'm happy that young people lik eyou love this music, 'cos this is the base of music we know now! proud of that...

  • Rock on dude, you're on the right track - the track less travelled by - the best one there is...

  • Esta es la mejor de las versiones,a mi parecer.

  • I've heard the Bee Gee's wrote this for Otis Redding perhaps it was Burdon's respect for Otis that made him record this?

  • Really like his version of this bee gees song.

  • SO HOT!!!!!!

  • I think the best is Nina Simone's version of this song...

  • i agree a 100% :D

  • wow i missed this one and im a man iand i just guess you dont know what its like but hey what is though few dodgy riffs and cords at4.1 onwards just guess the drugs get to all of us

  • This and Janis Joplin's version are amazing!

Saludos pagiodrk .

  • I'm a full grown man,....Can't you see that I am...

You don't know what it's like......

  • my ears ache with bee gees for real¡¡

  • Comment removed

  • the beegees rule but this is a great cover

  • Michael Boldin does a good version of this old BeeGee song - but Eric Burdon's version is the best!

  • Comment removed

  • very good is cool !

  • IT's a song written by Barry and Robin Gibb and published for the first time by the Bee Gees in 1967.

  • My favorite singer of all time.

    You're the MAN, Eric !

    Yeah ! ! !
