@nemogre and sabbath took it from zappa's "hungry freaks daddy"... it is all about taking bits of pieces from your influences and making something creative... it is almost impossible to make a riff that is 100% percent unique

@Fata182 You need to listen to Melodic/Technical Deathmetal - Whilst I agree with what you are saying; quite frequently there are some extremely unique melodies.

Whilst of course they aren't 100% unique like you said, they are pretty damn close.
