Stretching legs and feet

Would it help if the legs and feet were massaged as they are stretched? If my information is correct, muscles are supposed to be stretched really slowly so they don't hurt as much. It would be interesting to hear from various physical therapists on this.

this video is not pointless. The child has cerebral palsy. personally this is educational for me, my girlfriends cousin was recently born with cerebral palsy and I am studying physiotherapy so it's good to know this.

It is not necessary to stretch a baby, it does not benefit them at all.

i was born with a physical disability and i needed someone to stretch my muscles as a child so i could walk today...so i understand what this person was doing FOR this child...not TO her...its called giving her a chance at a normal life, like my mom and dad did.

WOW this is what is called PHYSICAL THERAPY!!! Yes it will be uncomfortable for the child but in the long run this child will have a better life, because someone was willing to help. Many parents are afraid to do what a PT does b/c yes the child will scream. Im not saying Pts don't have hearts (believe me they do ) but if this doesn't get done then the outcome might not be as great.

you know how you stretch after a workout or perhaps when you get out of the bed in the morning ? You stretch after a workout because if you don't your muscles wll be tight. For people who get physical therapy for what ever reason if they don't get stretched they get tight. For those who have been in an accident and will walk again if they don't get stretched their muscles shorten and the recovery time is much longer and much more painful.

If they will never walk again it also helps them with their balance sitting in a wheelchair, getting in and out of a wheelchair etc.

Good im glad i could help you. If you think about it - if this child was not stretched then the child would be in much more pain in the long run. Believe me we hate it when children cry but we know it is for their own good. And the greatest thing is the watching people walk and beable to live better lives because of what we do for them.

these streaching are within normal range..... there is no abuse it was for the betterment of the child.... Kids wid CP,underdevelop muscle(for some reason) are also advised to streach.
