Really if someone breeds maybe once every year at the max and they have good dogs then breeding doesn't bother me. The only reason we have so many dogs is puppy mills, proffessional breeders, and stray dogs breeding, we can at least stop the main one (puppy mills)
I'm going to be honest, I don't support breeders either. At this stage in society, everyone who claims to love dogs (not just certain breeds) needs to promote adopting from shelters. There is no reason to breed dogs at all nowadays, there are FAR too many dying in shelters. It's selfish to breed, even if your dogs get good homes. She's worried her establishment can be confused with puppy mills? "Puppy mills hurt our business". Disgusting...
@mjfromga89 I believe in rescues very strongly all of my dogs have been rescued. But dogs need to be bred for future generations. But not at this massive greedy scale.
Removing puppy mills is help take away a job example say your at work you make as much as these mill owners ex $10000 to feed your family's the economy is bad due to a lack in jobs but at least keep the dogs in clean conditions :D
i dont believe this. Here in NZ, the pet stores are clean wonderful, and no puppy mill actually exsists. I got my puppy from a breeders home though just in case
Doing research looking for pet stores that actually sell puppies (or kittens) and it seems very few exist. They're absolutely none in D.C. where I'm at. @hellomynameisbacon1 puppy mills over breed and over work their dogs and keep them in horrible conditions that will eventually kill them. theres nothing good about them because that is the life that dog will live. being cramped in a small cage with little food and water and no excersize. its very cruel and sad!
@scir91: Just in the recent past laws have been passed in some states to limit the size and scope of these puppy mills/large-scale abusive breeding operations. It takes laws being passed and strong enforcement of these laws to close down these puppy mills and to prosecute animal abusers in general.

hahaha, when sharon was talking about how much she loved the dog it was just squirming and trying to escape. dont think little bit like sharon very much.
@korikakumei Actually, when it's very common to meet the breeding parents when considering a new puppy. When we adopted our beagle, my wife and I visited the farm on which he was born, met the breeding pair, talked at length with the breeders, and were welcomed to explore the property. We were impressed with everything. As we were examining the breeders, they (rightly!) interviewed us to make sure we were prepared to give our new puppy a safe and loving home.
In belgium we do have puppymills, unfortunaly. I do know somebody with a dogshelter who has rescued and taken in a lot of the animals. That puppymill was shut down. The thing I don't get are the breeders.. the professional ones I mean. Aren't they also part of the "problem" of the overbreeding and the fact so many dogs (and cats) are being put down in shelters? I think at this point the "production" of dogs and cats should be lowered a lot. Offcourse the puppymills should be extinct first.
@inwe1205 no because the professional ones at times will only give there puppys to people that will rise the puppy. There are a lot of things they will ask you and go over with you. You also have to sign a lot of paper work and if you are not going to breed the dog you have to even sign a paper to get it fixed.
@inwe1205 The other thing about professionl breeders is they keep and work with there dogs. They let you see all of there dogs and let you pick the one you want out.
@inwe1205 Look at it this way. Let's say you want to take in a child who has no parents you not only have to go and meet the child and those who are taking care of the child. Same with a professional breeder. They will tell you the health history they will show you the parents and so on. They don't just give a puppy to any one with money. The problem is people don't do research.
The Amish from the Midwest are irresponsible and should read the bible, we are all gods children, not just humans, but all animals in the world, especially dogs, they only want to please man, and they don't ask for anything in return, just love, food and shelter
Puppy mills are a tragedy. Every time someone buys an animal from a pet store, you are contributing to the torture and inhumane treatment of these animals. The horrors of puppy mills are not made up stories, it goes on day in and day out. Educate your self and SAVE A LIFE! Adopt from your local shelter. DO NOT support the Greedy Bastards that condemn these poor animals to a life of Misery and Pain for the sake of a few bucks! If we can end the demand we could eliminate the puppy mills. ADOPT!!!
the ONLY way that we can shut puppy mills,is to teach people the dont have to buy from pet stores,it is the only way to save this inoscent creatures! LETS ALL TAKE ACTION
Some people are wrong, it's ok to buy puppies, what's wrong is the puppymills! Buying a puppy is not wrong! But PuppyMills are!! THUMBS UP IF U AGREE!!
In Finland, selling dogs in pet stores is illegal. No puppies and kittens are available in pet stores here, but some other animals can be bought there, for example rodents.
We have puppy mill and smuggling problem though not in the same scale as US. Our mills are usually people keeping too many dogs in a (filthy) house, shed or small cages and breeding them again and again. Puppies are sold via free advertisement colums. Puppies can be also smuggled from Estonia or Russia.
@Belgiter Those puppy mill dogs here are usually unregistered or mixed-bred puppies bought by people who say: "We just want a pet, we don't need any papers, this puppy is cheaper than the one of a breeder." Some do not even know there is something wrong when they answer to an advertisement in bad Finnish and pick their puppy up at a gas station.
We have no strays and only some shelter dogs, them being stereotypically GSD-hunting dog mixes.
I'm not sure how things operate on regards to dogs on other countries, but on mine (Panamá) here we don't have "puppy mills" (that's at least not a problem), but we do have LOTS of street dogs, and people often prefer to "buy the dog from a breeder or from a pet store" (I'm not saying that's bad either), but I think we help more our own society by rescuing animals from the street than buying them. As well it's very wise to neuter our pets! that way we can prevent more street dogs!
actually Scorpion woman, Petco and Petsmart dont use puppy mills, they are the only shops that rescue their dogs and puppies. It's Uncle Bills, Petland, and Puppy Paradise are some of the main chains of petstores that use puppy mills. Petco and PetsMart are good places.
I have an idea. What if all pet shops should be required to have some kind of certificate that their dogs are not being taken from puppy mills? They should also be required to have like a piece of paper hanging somewhere in their shop warning or explaining a bit abt puppy mills, maybe one that says "check for certificate". Every time a customer buys a puppy, they should be given receipt with certificate and number to call to check for authenticity.
as a former RSPCA employee and animal lover who has done so much for this organisation over the years,, T.V ad's, opened shelters, media statements, saved hundreds of RSPCA dogs and now,
I regret to have to say that the RSPCA in NSW are not doing what is best for the animals. Please have a look under RSPCA Nathan Barnes or
what im going to do is get a job at a puppy mill, wash EVERY cage in the place, find homes for the pups and mothsers and slowly sell each dog one by one, walk every last animal in that place, wash them and pay for the good food!! play with them, if they are to die of old age or something like that...theyre being buried!!! i will buy a cage that can hold 80 dogs if i have to!!!!!!!! i will make it so atleast 1 puppy mill is safe and environmental friendly!!!!
Best thing to do to a puppy mill before you call the cops... is rob the SHIT outta them. Puppy mills ALWAYS have safes because of the cash paid for puppies. The safes are usually at the owners actual residence and NOT at the actual puppy mill. It just takes finding out where they live, getting someone to make a puppy order, and finding the safe when their gone. Thats what i see in puppy mills, an opportunity to rob someone who deserves it.
Puppy mills- i sit down in my cage my horrors of life are real depresstion in my eyes i feel the sadness of the others before me the ones who were sad, mistreated and loney as a person walkes by i jump up waging, and the brightness come into my eyes it passes quickly as he leaves me i thought today i would be set free still i wait here hurt, and hungry just waiting for a prince to come and save me.......
@chazziny Most would probably be put down becasue of the amount of pain and suffering they are in. But Im sure there would be some that would be saved and go into a shelter and maybe after a long time to get used to humans and trust them again the dog would be given to a person to care for.
@ankofon Puppy mills are pretty much puppy factories. The people who run them take dogs, force them to have intercourse, then sell the offspring. They are treated very poorly, and the place almost resembles a cocentration camp for dogs. If they arent sold fast enough, then they are killed.
Doesnt that just make'ya want to line the owners agaisnt a wall and shoot 'em with an AK47? I do...........
@ankofon pricture didn't say that they make the girl dogs get pregnant many many many timess, like they said in the video, little bit was pregnant 6 times in 3 years. and they kill the mother dogs when they are unable to have puppies anymore.
XD little bit doesn't like her new mom.. i agree with all of the people that are saying good things! puppymills should be illegal. i got my dog from.. i think a puppy mill... we didn't see the mom or dad.. all the puppies had parvo.. later on my dog even had more problems.. i don't even think he is a purebred dog. he is suck a good dog tho. i hope nobody grows up to work for a puppy mill.
these guys are too bad to be even considered humans , dogs are our best friends and companions they look out for us and give us love and joy and this is how they repay them thats just beyond belief
i bought a puppy from a pet store and is true i t hought i gave that puppy a better life but only for that puppy the mothers are suffering. i can believe i did such a thing. if only i knew about t his before :(
I Wanna See Puppy Mills Works Trapped on Cages And Can't Talk I HATE US HUMANS WE MAKE DOGS SUFFER I can't take this Any more I want THIS TO STOP (And i Bought My dog from the Pet Store :( and my doggie never seen his mommy and my doggie lost his best friend)
watch phineas and ferb got game and comment how fucking terrible that german guy is. he was thinking of getting a dog from the pet store and they think those dogs are show dogs but they're actually poorly bred mutts
Enoughs Enough we really do pick and choose as humans dont we, do you not see wtf we do to cows, chickens, pigs, etc. Vegetarians would like to say stop it all but that aint stopping KFC no time soon is it. These are fucking animals I do believe they should be raised right and healthy but then again that would be better for business anyway am I right nobody wants to buy a fucked up dog, but the fact of the matter is their simply animals stop the shit their not people.
My grandma is always telling me about a female dog she saw that was rescued from a puppy mill once. She says it looked like the life was taken out of her. :(
@TheSocietyflawed They can still do what the store does, I can have a mill a block away from my house but bring one pup to my house for you to see and say yea my precious lil bit gave birth and I cant keep them all $1,000 please so whats to stop me its a waiste of energy we have REAL fucking problems in the US of fucking A, business is business these people should mind theirs.
@G5ive1 yeah, I agree, It wouldn't solve the problem all together. I'm very sure that some puppy mills still exist in the UK and they sell them in the manner you describe. What i'm saying is, if puppys were banned from pet stores in the USA then it would cut mill owners off from steady reliable buyers. Thier income wouldn't be as unreliable and it would less. The farm would have to scale down production and maybe shut down.
My family adopted a beagle mix named Socks from a rural under-funded animal shelter when I was ten years old. Later that week my parents took her to the vet. The vet told my parents that she had tape worm, heart worm, over-bred, and very malnourished. They suggested we put her to sleep because she was in such poor shape. Instead, my parents decided that they were going to try to save her. That was ten years ago, now she's a sweet happy fat old dog. I'm glad we saved her. :)
i've bought a dog from a puppy mill and a few days after buying him i found out he was from a puppy mill. i love so much but i shall NEVER buy a dog from a place that is even remotely close to a puppy mill. i don't even buy from backyard breeders and i don't love AKC because that approve puppy mills and give them papers that make the pups look Legit.
Proposition B will NOT affect puppy mills. There are already laws to shut them down. As you see on TV, they are being shut down regularly. The current 23 pages of laws work. We don't need more laws. Keep the good kennels in business NO on Prop B.
I'm writing a paper on pet euthanasia and pet overpopulation and began looking at puppy mills. This is all so terrible. I never thought it was this bad. Last Chance for Animals is really doing something great.
poor doogy 6 times giving birth ! i feel so bad.i brought my dog from a pet store but i didnt know how serious this was.i been trying to give up my husky for adoption but im scared the might breed her and every day the adoption day comes we chage our mines cause we fell in love with her.=] . stupid people go to school and get a proffesional life and stop breeding dogs assholes.
@vicswiifey PLEASE have your Husky spayed before you adopt her out! Ask your vet how much to spay her and charge that amount for adoption. Then, when you have an adopter lined up, bring her to the vet to be spayed and the adopter can pay the vet when they pick her up. If you don't there is a very good chance she WILL be bred and you will have contributed to the pet overpopulation problem! There are also low cost spay-neuter clinics in most large cities. Look for one online.
@berkshirebt i didnt get her sprayed but i gave her to a very good friend.so i know shes save i cryed that day lol.shes save.i went to a pet store not to long ago and i told the the guy i had a siberian husky and he said really well have "some" next week like wth u mean "some". and than i told him his dogs come from puppy mills and he said no with out looking at me than he said they came from well trusted breeders he knew for years.
Sooooo not only are the dogs involved in breeding leading a horrible "life", the puppys that they produce prevent perfectly good dogs in animal shelters from getting a home? Thats a punch in the face followed by a kick in the balls. It sickens me when people buy from breeders or shops. In fact, it's these shops and breeders that cause most of the issues with shelters. People want the cute puppy, but neglect dogs when they're grown up. Pathetic.
If I could - I would literally take those treating animals this way and stick them in a cage for a one year MINIMUM where they couldnt even turn around and let them sit in there with their shit matted in their hair. See if they get it then. But this goofy fucking PC country wouldn't have it - an infringement of 'their' rights.
Sandis - I'm not surprised you don't have puppy mills - Sweden is a country that makes sense. We literally lose children in the foster care system and give people a 'stern warning' about having starving animals only to find them dead a year later. If this country can't make money off of abolishing puppy mills - these angels will be filthy and cramped alone in a cage their whole lives.
This is kind of worrying me .. 2 days ago, I went into a pet store and fell in love with a cocker spaniel ( not thinking about the whole puppy mill thing ) .. and I purchased it and she said he had pink eye and they needed to keep him for a few days .. I am scared because I hope he doesn't die or get sick ...
I think puppy mills should be banned and their practice should be penalized with jail. I also agree that banning puppy mills doesn't do any good if people don't spread the word. It may seem surprising but there are lots of people unaware of what are puppy mills and where these pups at petstores really come from. =(
I'm doing extensive research on Small + toy breeds: plan to buy/adopt my first pet soon. Never realized how high the demand is for small dogs, which basically equals tons of backyard breeders + mills out for a buck. :( So disgusting. Hopefully i can rescue a pup instead of buying.
B-BUT Wat will happen to the puppys in the Pet stores?!
My Auntie got a western highland terrier tht came from a pet store T^T and I-I couldnt imangined my Auntie not having tht sweet loving loyal cuddley doggy T^T
WHY CANT THERE BE A ANIMAL ARK THAN HUMANE SOCIETY! T^T I dont want all dogs tht is in the humane society put to sleep for room..
how do you know is a puppy store is selling puppy mills ? to be honest i don even get what a puppy mills is ?? im from sweden and here there are no Puppy stores , u can only adopt here
@sandis95 and @Cats4ever10 No reputable breeder sells to a pet store. And a puppy mill is a large scale breeding facility where dogs are bred over and over, kept in small cages their whole life, have metal rods jammed down their throats to rupture their vocal chords, never get any love od human interaction, no protection from the elements, etc. Basically, puppy mills are doggy hell
when I was little, my dad bought an expensive cocker spaniel puppy from the local pet store. It had all kinds of health problems and we ended up having to put it down after spilling hundreds more on vet bills.
Puppy mills produce sickly inbred puppies. I bought my puppy Rottie from the shelter for 85 bucks, neutered and shots included! 3 years later, still healthy and strong.
I can imagine nothing worse than to give birth and then all of your children are sold and you never see them again. Then you are impregnated again and your children are taken away from you by being sold over and over again. What a horrible things humans do for profit. Lots of Love Misscpb xxx
Fuck Puppy Mills! I did a report on banning puppy mills! Female dogs after they have puppies breeders often shoot them to death! I have a lovely Boston Terrier and I got him from my TRUSTED aunt.. no puppy mills!

@inwe1205 The other thing about professionl breeders is they keep and work with there dogs. They let you see all of there dogs and let you pick the one you want out.
Epica124 7 months ago
@inwe1205 Look at it this way. Let's say you want to take in a child who has no parents you not only have to go and meet the child and those who are taking care of the child. Same with a professional breeder. They will tell you the health history they will show you the parents and so on. They don't just give a puppy to any one with money. The problem is people don't do research.
Epica124 7 months ago

ADOPT!!!

Belgiter 9 months ago
@Belgiter Those puppy mill dogs here are usually unregistered or mixed-bred puppies bought by people who say: "We just want a pet, we don't need any papers, this puppy is cheaper than the one of a breeder." Some do not even know there is something wrong when they answer to an advertisement in bad Finnish and pick their puppy up at a gas station.
We have no strays and only some shelter dogs, them being stereotypically GSD-hunting dog mixes.
Belgiter 9 months ago
I'm not sure how things operate on regards to dogs on other countries, but on mine (Panamá) here we don't have "puppy mills" (that's at least not a problem), but we do have LOTS of street dogs, and people often prefer to "buy the dog from a breeder or from a pet store" (I'm not saying that's bad either), but I think we help more our own society by rescuing animals from the street than buying them. As well it's very wise to neuter our pets! that way we can prevent more street dogs!

I have an idea. What if all pet shops should be required to have some kind of certificate that their dogs are not being taken from puppy mills? They should also be required to have like a piece of paper hanging somewhere in their shop warning or explaining a bit abt puppy mills, maybe one that says "check for certificate". Every time a customer buys a puppy, they should be given receipt with certificate and number to call to check for authenticity.

what im going to do is get a job at a puppy mill, wash EVERY cage in the place, find homes for the pups and mothsers and slowly sell each dog one by one, walk every last animal in that place, wash them and pay for the good food!! play with them, if they are to die of old age or something like that...theyre being buried!!! i will buy a cage that can hold 80 dogs if i have to!!!!!!!! i will make it so atleast 1 puppy mill is safe and environmental friendly!!!!
areahisawesome 11 months ago
Best thing to do to a puppy mill before you call the cops... is rob the SHIT outta them. Puppy mills ALWAYS have safes because of the cash paid for puppies. The safes are usually at the owners actual residence and NOT at the actual puppy mill. It just takes finding out where they live, getting someone to make a puppy order, and finding the safe when their gone. Thats what i see in puppy mills, an opportunity to rob someone who deserves it.

@chazziny Most would probably be put down becasue of the amount of pain and suffering they are in. But Im sure there would be some that would be saved and go into a shelter and maybe after a long time to get used to humans and trust them again the dog would be given to a person to care for.

ankofon 1 year ago
@ankofon Puppy mills are pretty much puppy factories. The people who run them take dogs, force them to have intercourse, then sell the offspring. They are treated very poorly, and the place almost resembles a cocentration camp for dogs. If they arent sold fast enough, then they are killed.
Doesnt that just make'ya want to line the owners agaisnt a wall and shoot 'em with an AK47? I do...........
pricture 1 year ago 4
@ankofon pricture didn't say that they make the girl dogs get pregnant many many many timess, like they said in the video, little bit was pregnant 6 times in 3 years. and they kill the mother dogs when they are unable to have puppies anymore.

G5ive1 1 year ago
@G5ive1 yeah, I agree, It wouldn't solve the problem all together. I'm very sure that some puppy mills still exist in the UK and they sell them in the manner you describe. What i'm saying is, if puppys were banned from pet stores in the USA then it would cut mill owners off from steady reliable buyers. Thier income wouldn't be as unreliable and it would less. The farm would have to scale down production and maybe shut down.
TheSocietyflawed 1 year ago
My family adopted a beagle mix named Socks from a rural under-funded animal shelter when I was ten years old. Later that week my parents took her to the vet. The vet told my parents that she had tape worm, heart worm, over-bred, and very malnourished. They suggested we put her to sleep because she was in such poor shape. Instead, my parents decided that they were going to try to save her. That was ten years ago, now she's a sweet happy fat old dog. I'm glad we saved her. :)

vicswiifey 1 year ago
@vicswiifey PLEASE have your Husky spayed before you adopt her out! Ask your vet how much to spay her and charge that amount for adoption. Then, when you have an adopter lined up, bring her to the vet to be spayed and the adopter can pay the vet when they pick her up. If you don't there is a very good chance she WILL be bred and you will have contributed to the pet overpopulation problem! There are also low cost spay-neuter clinics in most large cities. Look for one online.

Pathetic.

PS
If I could - I would literally take those treating animals this way and stick them in a cage for a one year MINIMUM where they couldnt even turn around and let them sit in there with their shit matted in their hair. See if they get it then. But this goofy fucking PC country wouldn't have it - an infringement of 'their' rights.
Havinglivedalittle 1 year ago 2
Sandis - I'm not surprised you don't have puppy mills - Sweden is a country that makes sense. We literally lose children in the foster care system and give people a 'stern warning' about having starving animals only to find them dead a year later. If this country can't make money off of abolishing puppy mills - these angels will be filthy and cramped alone in a cage their whole lives.

It may seem surprising but there are lots of people unaware of what are puppy mills and where these pups at petstores really come from. =(

@sandis95 and @Cats4ever10 No reputable breeder sells to a pet store.
