I'm only familiar with Eydie's Broadway stuff-Matchmaker, What Did I Have I Don't Have,
If He Walked into My Life and of couse 'Bossa Nova. But she all but removes the c&w feel to this ballad and makes it hers. I still adore Skeeter's version-but this is like comparing apples & oranges.. Anyway, thanks for posting this lost gem!
One of the most beautiful voices ever singing a very lovely and haunting song. What musicality, pathos, intensity and feeling there is in there! The voice is of celestial quality, and the phrasing exemplary, so unlike with contemporary young singers! A monument! Thanks so much for posting. From Brussels, Belgium ... A desert island when it comes to this kind of music! Bless you.
Thanks for posting this. Eydie does a terrific job with it - it always amazes me, her ability to sing a song from any genre and always add her own style and do it so well.
I love Eydie...she's an amazing singer! I've been blessed as I've listened to and appreciated her music for 39 years of my life. I started out as a fan at the age of 5 and I'm still enjoying her incredible voice today.
My favourite British actresses are Penelope Keith and Vanessa Redgraves.
You already are aware that my favourite musical artist is Eydie Gorme. I'm half Canadian and half British because my mom was born and lived in England for the first 12 years of her life. Take care and thanks for your comment Sir Basilde Brush.
Two very distinctively British actresses. I often see actors as I live near theatre, but Penelope Keith outranks them all because of her appearance in the 'Good Life'. Take care.
Complete with the typical 1961 string backing, yes, it's a lovely song to relax to whether you're in Alaska, Texas or ... well, whether you're in Alaska or Texas.

Much as I love Skeeter Davis, Eydie blows her away on this one. Let's face it, she can really sing.
