Boredem...people now this day have a 2 second attention span. These epic songs back in the day made the history of rock. Now they are lost to the younger generation.
@dvw444 Yes 2112 is musical darwinism, only the most advanced and most intelligent listen to the whole thing. It's kind of ironic honestly, this whole song is about the downfall of creativity and free thought, it now it is overlooked because of the same thing Rush warned us about by writing this song
I saw Rush play 2112 complete at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto sometime around 1980--they played fantastic then, and they play even better now!!! What a great, great band!!!
Damn I love Rush, I was there to see this in '97 in Denver. I remember almost crying when Alex started the opening riff after Temples. Yeah, I'm an old softy. But Rush is the greatest band on the planet
At the end, Geddy Lee says: "We'll be back in 20 minutes after some psychiatric treatment," as he points to his head. Translated, that probably means "We'll be back after we smoke a couple of fatties in our trailer". Go for it, guys, you deserve it.
Attention all planets of the Solar Federation! RUSH HAS ASSUMED CONTROL, RUSH HAS ASSUMED CONTROL!
I saw this in 1976, only Rush had long hair & flowing robes. I'm glad to see them do the whole 2112 in modern times. I think whoever shot this was blocked from Neil, I saw head shadows everytime he pointed in Pearts direction. Hard to move around when that close to the stage. Plus, I'm sure keeping the security from snagging your camera is also an issue! Thanks for posting all 3 parts, Rock On!!!
Amazing footage. I realy don't understand though why 21,000 people watch part one, 10,000 watch part 2, and only 4,000 watch part 3. O well, too bad for them.
@mistarax perfect a total lunar eclipse tonight, winter solstice, meteor shower and RUSH day man I wish I could be there...I'm here so I'll fit it in with my bonfire for the solstice and eclipse and ask the Gods to forgive me while I jam to RUSH!
@bigtretrnoftheprince The numbers speak of the short attention span todays listeners have because of the music industry.I wish people would go out and buy the C.D. (yeah I was about to type Album) This is the first RUSH song I heard back in the 70's and was totally blown away that 3 guys could produce such a masterpiece of music and imagry. My friends finally convinced me to turn the album over to listen to their other songs and I was hooked.R&R HOF can go to hell RUSH ROCKS!!!!!!!!
ive been looking for footage from this tour for a long time!!! thank you for posting this. i witnessed this epic momemt row 20 dead center at the gorge in washington. simply my best concert of all time. ive been to over 300 various rock n roll shows...2112 in it's entirety. will we ever experience it again???
I got Chills watching these 3 clips just like I did @ the show in 97 @ the former Capital Centre in Largo, MD. Lots of great concert memories from that venue.
You know that song is a metaphor for our own Federal Government? I think the crowd should be booing when the all imposing voice says "We have assumed control!"
the other interpretation is that those who have assumed control are the elder race returning to destroy the temples as seen in the dream sequence earlier, but I agree if it means that the priests have finally gained full control it should totally be booed, that's a horrible ending.
dude i think that it has nothing to do with our government. But the proof that it is the priests is that we, as In the collective unity, have assumed control. We as in equality, what the protaganist stood against. Its pretty sad, based on the book anthem by Ayn Rand, different ending though
"We'll be back after some psychiatric treatment" Ha ha! During the Test for Echo tour I remember Geddy saying "We'll be back after some brain surgery." The next show he said "We'll be back after a brief medical evaluation."
Super view of Alex's hands getting it done! WOW I'm the 100th Like! I feel this is significant. Can someone borrow me 5 bucks hey? ;)

WOW!!!! They are as amazing in recent years, as they were in 1980 when I saw them for the first time. It doesn't get any better than Rush.

@crustlessraptor49 He has to make up for not being able to hit the high notes somehow... Their musicianship is what counts the most.

This is the first footage I have seen of 2112 performed complete in recent years.
I am always a little let down when I see them live and all I get is "Overture" and "Temples of Syrinx".
Don't tease me... I want it ALL!!! =)

Indeed, Rush kicketh much ass.
One of the great ass-kicking epic numbers in the history of rock: 2112.
Governments change but the majesty of 2112 shall not pass before well nigh of the date itself, I imagine.
There I've said enough already.
