  • Want your audio back in your video, Here, watch?v=_lVVZsJNfDE&playnext_from=TL&videos=82qJbvMHI5Q. After that is done, put this in the description. All audio goes to there respective owners, no Copyright infrighment. Used for entertainment not for profit.

  • god dammit, it would have been fine as a normal slide show, but you had to waste 5 minutes of the video with your stupid ass effects on the way your shitty text came in. fuck you and i hope you live on barton, and your moms a hooker too.

  • Sad state. I'm a member at a boxing club on Barton -- there are some great quality people that frequent the area...well, a bit to the east of where this video is shot.

I think this area needs some James St. N treatment -- basically the community coming together and starting to reshape itself. A coat of paint and some time with a broom do wonders.

Some of this area, though, I'm afraid, should probably be turned into parkland. Green the place up.

  • This is how cities get turned into oceans of blighted property.

  • Downtown Hamilton can rebuild it just needs a strong mayor.

  • This should be called the ghetto or Poverty Central

  • They should go to other areas... i have been all over America and the closest place I have seen to down town hamilton is Detriot... its disgusting and dirty. You have to be pretty hard up to live down there

  • Either that or pushed into the situation by corrupt government. Long story.

  • Not my fault, I voted for Baldisaro... The pot man could have cleaned the streets

  • Back in the day,Barton was booming!

  • Yup, this is the one that they removed my voice and fair use audio for a segment of other audio that was claimed. Looks like I'll have to redo this one.

  • Barton St. is the closed thing Canada has to Detroit,

  • Oh I've been through Detroit, way less people on Barton Street though.

  • @ALuimes I guess you don't know about vancouver then.

  • holllla at barton n birch gzzzz up

  • I take it you live in the area? Thanks for viewing the vid.

  • I live 2 on Huntley Street, By "pinkys" and i hate going on barton any time of day

  • That's understandable, it amazing how much difference a block or two away can make.

  • I live on that street and it really sucks. All those stores getting closed down like a ghost town. I wish Barton would do something to attract the street but judging from the condition, nothing is gonna happen at all. At 1:22 was my uncle's restaurant, didn't go to well.

  • It's sad really, I used to live at 533 Wentworth St. by Burlington St. I built a green house out back and had a sundeck on the 2nd floor for cactus. I had such an awesome garden it stood out from a distance. I produced so many different varoeties of house and garden plants that people began asking to buy, so I began yard selling them. I was doing from $20.-$100. dollars a day in sales. I decided to open a store on Barton and moved to an apartment there, worst mistake I ever made. I went from...

  • ...up to $100. dollars a day from that house in sales to $20. a month in sales on Barton St. It tapped me out and now I have nothing except living in slummy housing. Now I live where there is no front yard, most my live inventory died due to lack of heat from the last house I was in. Over $7000. in live inventory was lost. I still have 100's of plants but no place to sell them. I took my last landlord to court, see my Confessions of a Slum Lord video. I had a winning case but the court dismissed

  • ...the case and let the slum lord away with it. It's easy to fall but difficult to climb back up. I really hate this city now, like anywhere justice is bought and only for those with money. I had a whole series of promotional videos to upload for Hamilton, but after that joke of a housing tribunal, I scrapped the project. I'm not going to promote a city that shits on it's residents and am looking for a more ideal location, preferably not in Hamilton. Sorry to hear about your uncles business.

  • everyone in hamilton knows barton in ghetto and disgusting its not all of the place down the mountain

  • No it's not, this is specifically in the areas between Birch St. and Lottridge St. on Barton St.

  • thank god i live on the mountain look at that shit whole

  • Yup it's like a whole different city on top of the escartment. Wish I still lived up there.

  • Oh it's from Boards of Canada, they have some pretty interesting tunes.

  • Well it's not all of Barton Street actually, but a fair section of it. I'd say from Wentworth out to Lottrige in the video, but it extends a little further. I went from $100 dollars a day from a house in yard sales to $20. a month in a store on Barton Street. killed me, now my life is poverty and slum lords. I have a stomach condition that prevents me from working everyday so like being self employed. But my present location is not good for it. So been working part time. See my Slum lord video.

  • See video 1 of this series for a glimpse of where I used to live.

  • It's really self explanitory. You really need my help on this? Have you even seen Barton Street? It's about the closure of many of the area businesses.

  • :( Good footage, but very sad!

  • Yes it is actually, sorry for the late replies, been ill the last few days.

  • Hi hey sorry I haven't gotten back to your message or video yet, this last week I've been ill with a bad flu. I'll leave the message marked as unread and return it and a video comment once I'm feeling a bit better. I haven't forgotten.

  • Sounds like a situation which I found in every town i travel through.

The new building and modern ways have left a lot of the once-vibrant sections in the dust. I don't like those new mall type environments. I prefer the village where you know everyone and can trust everyone. Where it that?

  • It's one of the older sections of Hamilton Ontario.

  • Wrong Wrong Wrong.... the answer to this problem is the people... the scum who have moved in.... you'll never change the people, you'll never change Hamilton.... the only solution is to round these losers and their families up at night and dispose of them and then bulldoze from the skyway bridge to about city Hall... thats the only thing i can think of

  • Yes you are because that's the whole point of the video is the area residents. And that went right over your head. And sure I hope they do that too and throw a few like you along in the mix. Like I said I no longer live there I was only there for a year and it was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. How old are you? You're coming across rather immaturely. Not so much here but on the other videos.

  • how could you do a 9 part series about barton street and only show the bad, I up the road from u and it is not bad at all ,did you ever think that the reason people smash bricks off your building and cut wires is because of what you are doing? you are disrespecting the place where u lay your head, and the real reason barton is downhil isn't because shops are being converted into housing its because ignorant people like you cont. to bad mouth the area scaring others away, you should feel shamed

  • Show me the good. One up the road isn't neccesarily Barton, be more specific. Not my building. What am I doing? Check video 9 to find out what I did so wrong. I was there only one year. I won't lay my head there now if you paid me too. Ya I'm responsible for years of degradation. Sorry was like that when I arrived. Check video 7's comments for a more positive responce from a land owner there. Shame for speaking the truth not at all. Video 3 actually pronotes some businesses there.

  • Want to add anything more? Maybe it's the fault of people like you? Truth hurting you? If no one speaks up nothing will be done. What have you done for the area? Talk about ignorance, you must be an expert. Read the comments below appears your all alone in your thoughts, wonder why?

  • Sorry typo's on Resonse* and Promotes*

  • Its tragic how Hamilton has hit such a downward spiral when compared to its former glory! Could'nt agree with the video more!

    Good Stuff.

  • Even in the last decade or so I've noticed a steady downward trend.. Thank you for your comment.

  • that's creepy ,John!

  • I like the boards of canada used for a soundtrack. It's a shame Barton is as depressing as it is. Hopefully parts of it will be cleaned up with the expansion of the General Hospital and Centre Mall.

  • Depressing? I could come up wuth a few stronger words than just depressing. When I moved my business there, I had Hemdry's Shoes, The Terminal Bar, and Daves Barber Shop all bad mouthing me and my business as soon as I arrived. THese people didn't even know me and they began spreadinng nasty rumours.

  • Anyway, I went from the potential of earning $100. a day from a house to $20. a month on Barton St. The funniest thing is that the business that replaced me was praised by these other shops and they are dirty and have cat shit in the windows. The alleyway has returned to being a disgusting mess and I guess they are happy once again? I tried to make it nicer and got shit on for my troubles.

  • I think it's cool that you recognized that tune I had used, it seemed fitting, in a nice way to use that tune. Truthfully I don't care what happens in this city anymore, I'm sick of being shit on, see my "Confessions of a Slum Lord" video. I used like like being Canadian, now all I want to do is leave. I bet I'd be treated better here if I was an immigrant. Maybe then I could get hired somewhere too!!!!

  • That's a shame. I commend you for trying at least, it shows that you did care at one point. Barton is one of the tougher (maybe toughest?) nuts to crack in this city, aside from maybe King East before downtown. Thankfully other neighbourhoods like James North are turning around. People are cleaning up their act and taking pride in their city. I hope this feeling extends to areas like Barton, which were once so vibrant and important.

  • Appearantly it does not, well that's a little extreme, from the people I've talked with in that area, 50 % seem to want change and 50 % don't. I think the area needs a lot more new blood.

  • I think I agree with you. That's why areas like James North and Locke St. are better now. Artists and young people moved in, bought businesses and live in the area. They take pride in the community they call home, unlike the slum lords, immigrants and general unhappy people on Barton St. and other such areas.

Barton needs something to attract that crowd to it though...

  • Your guess is as good as mine.

  • You mixed the music well and you make a very good point. Thanks!

  • Yup this one took some time, thanks again :)

  • LOL still up to that too mrgionni? some ppl never really change but i like that about u man, LOL!

  • Yup, what can I say, if something bothers me enough I just got to try and do something about it :)

  • Kool, Kool.

  • Thanks

  • Ok, then I really must ask. Why THIS part of town to open a business!?!?!

Barton st is currently THE! worst part of town. Hamilton has some GREAT features to it. Barton street is NOT one of them.

  • And why choose that!?! location and storefront for your business?? With all the vacancies you've just videotaped, why would you choose a storefront that looked so drab? You'll never get customers attracted to your store with the way it looks now. How about you either improve the outside so people notice the current place OR move to one of those many vacant ones that you think you could improve cheaply? Remember YOU are responsible for the look of the storefront, NOT your landlord...

  • oops.... copy posted twice

How about growing some new Sunflowers to be put outside every morning??

  • You want to know? Ok here it is; money and availability it all revolves around money and availability and the lack of it. You see I couldn't finish school, I had a young family to raise, no wife, just siblings, so couldn't finish schooling. So no little pieces of paper for me saying just how smart I am, as if that's any indication of intelligence.

  • So basically I'm poor and unemployable. For years I've had nothing to get by on except for my own smarts, skills and abilities and until Barton St. I was doing fairly well.

  • Sunflowers, I had plenty of sunflowers out back, I tried plants out front but it wasn't working, no one walks that street to shop, so my best bet was out back closer to the barkery. Truthfully I did better at yard sales from mine and families homes.

  • And at $,2000 and at earning %20 to $100 a month there I could not afford a large sign. I had signs in the windows and a stand up sign for the outside. But my best advertisments have always been my gardens, Something I tried there, was somewhat successful at, It did improve the area look, but people weren't shopping for plants in that area. No they were shopping for alcohol, crack and prostitutes.

  • Perhaps you should walk by that area again, I'm no longer there, and see how it looks now. Or maybe I will and do another video, would you like for that?

  • Sure. I don't want to discourage your posting, I'm just voicing what I see..critism is to critique and to critique is to point where there is failure. failure to properly communicate, failture to do something that would get a more positive response etc,,

  • Ha ha ha, now that's rich, discourage me, ha ha ha. No this will only serve to encourage more of the like. I can take critism as much as I can give it. Remember critism and communications is a two way street.

  • And why choose that!?! location and storefront for your business?? With all the vacancies you've just videotaped, why would you choose a storefront that looked so drab? • it is sad when neigborhoods die a slow death five stars for another good video

  • Yaay, and thanks :)

  • This is a cool video mrgionni!! Still working on mine, still trying to make special effects

  • If you are refering to the tittle and ending effects in my latest videos, or many of the effects in this video, I used multible programs to create the effects. Mainly photo editing programs and gif animation programs. Of course once that's done I throw them all together on the movie maker program, for now, have a new one I'll be trying soon.

  • no i'm from stoney creek, where do u live in Burlington?

  • I wish. Hamilton.

  • hot chick at the beginning the rest is shit. film some hamilton asses and who cares about these old buildings , tear them down i say. oh, by the way, speak up, can't understand a fucking word

  • Are you always this negative? You sound like a Hamiltonion.
