Beautiful video that really suits this classic song. Thanks for sharing...dang, makes me wish I were a lineman! Kinda a tough job here in Alaska tho!. I posted a cover of this song and I welcome any comments/suggestions. Thanks!
You're longing for a distant love long lost. That "someplace" was possibly one of many experiences: being cuddled as an infant/toddler, a riveting high school romance, a loving protective parent/grandparent, etc.
You know in your heart that that long lost distant love truly did exist...and you're longing for it simultaneously revives it.
When the "love" you knew was as deeply caring and nurturing as could be...it becomes dimensionless: capable of spanning vast distance of time & space.
An interesting analysis, not sure if it was directed at the song, or elanor390's comment, but either way it made me think again about the message in the song, and my desire to sing it. I think you could well be right.
Wichita Lineman,is one of those rare songs that seems somehow to exist in a world of its own. Somewhere between pop and country, without really being either. Hope you like my interpretation of this song from 1968.
Of course we do...any version of this song is awesome and powerful!
