  • Hey I just got a mpk49 and I'm having a hard time trying to set it up to pro tools. Any suggestions please?

  • great video! just did some lyrics on top of your loop! yay

  • my brother if you have a facebook add me kenzie brooks my produer name is k fresh thank again bro.

  • that was really insanely fucking gay the fact that you had that fake phone call at the start. shame on you.

  • @sublocal thank you, it means a lot to me that you took time out of your busy day to say that. Not.

  • @sublocal hahaha

  • What's up this is new to me I got the mpk49 and logic 9 and im lookin 4 sum sounds can you help me out oh by the way that beat go hard

  • @dame12712 get to sampling, logic also has pretty decent sounds.

  • I like dat beat. shit sound like some prince shit. lol

  • @ChadHunter614 haha

  • Heey i just got pro tools for my mac but i didnt get the m adudio box ,, But i got an akai mpk25 Is there anyway where i can fix it ? Cuz it wont let me open it says unable to loacte avid hardware

  • @doggme what you need is a native version of pro tools that doesn't require external hardware but will playback using the built in computer audio.

  • @Madjef Is there anyways i can use my akai tho ?

  • @doggme you can use the akai with the software once its opened you can set

it as a midi controller within pro tools. Also search your computer for Apple Midi Setup

its an app that will let you set up the akai as a controller regardless of whether you

    have pro tools or not.

  • Great videos, even greater sounding music. I wanted to ask, How did you get your mpk angled like that? Ive been looking for a similar solution. Keep up the good work. Your music is tight!!

  • @StarBoyJonesProds hey thanks for checking me out. I was able to use studio foam and duck tape, I always got duck tape on hand. gotta have it.

  • Harold Melvin I Miss You! Every super producer flips this sample! Kanye, Gold Panda, to you MadJef!

  • @seanprodigy word, thats the sample. it personafies the melding of hip hop and philly R&B.

  • BIG TRACK BRO :)

  • @mandem009 THANKS DOC, WHATS GOOD WITCHA?

  • Did Pro Tools automatically recognize your MPK49? I have one as well I just don't know if there will be a problem when I get Pro Tools.

  • @CFSpictures , once you set your preferences within pro tools, you can assign a controller of any type. then name if mpk49 and yes, pro tools should recognize it.

  • nice beat. nice studio. keep it up man. btw did you mod your pads on the mpk. i ordered an mpk25 recently but heard you have to mod the pads to make them more usable and responsive.

  • @sml2238 thanks for stopping thru to check me out. yes I did mod the pads. simple process. cool videos on

    youtube that show you how.

  • @Madjef yeah i already have, did u use tape? i plan on cutting up some bike tube and putting the pieces under the pads. i heard that works perfect.

  • What screen is this?

  • @smallTOWNRecordz Apple cinema display HD 23"

  • this sound is bombing man. props.

check my channel for my music btw.

  • @KiddoColorz thanks for checking me out.

  • MPK-61 ? ;)

  • Peace Jef, I stepped up to Record, now that's much better than reason, they work together and you get that SSL9000k mixer in it. I don't even use Reason anymore.

  • @44danoc nice, Love SSL stuff.

  • @Madjef Yeah bro no doubt, that's why I rock well with Record, that SSL mixer they have in it is dam near close to the real thing. Everything is right in front of you without all the pop ups and you can lay out 8 effects, EQ etc it's bananas. Funny thing is they have a master buss compressor on the master fader and it works lol I was in shock, but it's about to get real crazy.

  • what monitors are you using?

  • @YoungSeff413 , get a computer, get internet access. the world is yours, I'm just saying.

  • Muito bom garoto.Gostaria de solicitar produções suas, serão possíveis? alexgabera@hotmail.com

  • @alexgabera sim é possível, eu gostaria de falar sobre o trabalho eo preço.

  • nice beat again and yes indeed i love my computer software reason save me money on electric bills and less time getting out of my chair. Gotta love propellerhead. Peace

  • @YEE941 thanks for checking me out.

  • Whats good man...quick question. Im an inspiring producer and was wonder what kinda akai do u recommend and programs as well. Basically what all do i need to start?

  • @lilkingruss, you wanna be real dope get an akai mpc2000, like $300 on the street, sampler, beat machine. Thats where I began only it was the akai mpc60. the mpc did me well. lately i been feeling the need to go back to that. oh yeah, learn how to use midi on the akai mpc2000 and you're golden. Laptop setup, Reason 5 will get you going.

  • @Madjef lol pooor black producer makes shitty vids....my father is the ceo of time warner cable company lolololol i could by a couple trailer parks....you just mad cause you suck at music and no one likes you cause your black

  • @henryjohnson51381 Satan, in case you've haven't heard " No weapon formed againist me shall prosper". I will remove your racist comments, and block you back into the dark whole from which you came, forcing you to create another account to hide behind until we block that one also. LMAO to bad Satan, nobody here fears you.

  • @Madjef nice setup man, what size is that screen?

  • @nikolaiprangemusic , ok, cool. big boi is my homie

  • i know the stuff u really make doesnt sound like this. come on bro. sho use what u do. Not what Akai is paying u to do

  • @greg0716 , what you want man, its a quick demo, I didn't make a record in this video, I made a demo. 2 different things.

  • where's the controller you really use?

  • @greg0716 man, i'll use whatever is available, I love having pads on my controller, I'm an old head from the Akai MPC60 up thru the Akai MPC3000 period. pads are a neccessity for me as much strings are necessary on a guitar.

  • a lot of you kat,s out there must dont no M,R TAYLOR PRODUCE FOR JIMMIE JAM @TERRY LEWIS KATS LIKE MINT CONDITION,SO THE GUY GOT SKILLZ PLUS HE BEEN DOING THIS 4 A LONG TYME ,,WHADUP JEFF i love the lesson keep doing ya thang

  • which strings are you using?

  • @altraz2k , stock logic sounds, straight and tweeked.

  • How do you like the MPK49?...I was thinking about getting one.

  • @cdboy35 its great if you like having that MPC style interface on your controller, I can't live without that. Appregiator, program loading and saving, faders, its pretty nice.

  • What up MJ I just got the MPK 88! I was wondering if you could tell me how to make the sustain pedal work. One guy told me to unplug the MPK, plug in the pedal, then plug it back up and that did didn't work. Do you have a better way for me bro? Take easy and keep up the inspiration!

  • @rushaa123 man, i hope you got this figured out by now. in care you didn't, check the pedal to see if there is a switch on the bottom, make sure its plugged in to the correct jack, check midi input settings on the MPK88.

  • man i need your studio and your programms =) so nice work!!!

  • @VivilEntertainment , thanks for checking me out.

  • Oh man! If the tempo was higher, you'd have "This Can't Be Life" but I'm sure you knew that. lol. But it sounds cool with what you added at the regular tempo!

  • @cratedigger89 with a name like cratedigger89 you must have some records at the crib. thanks for checking me out.

    ~Nosebleed

  • @NosebleedDaHitmaker thanks potna, Harold Melvin no doubt.

  • @Madjef why dont You re-create original sample melody by your self on that keyboard, you should learn how to play music. what would u do if there is no audio sequencers and samplers ?

  • @Dzoni73 if you check some of my other videos you will see that i usually play my own stuff, i used this sample because i had gotten lots of requests to flip a beat. so that's what this is. stay blessed

  • @Madjef ok then... i will subscribe, respect. godbless

whats Your top 10 favorite producers of old school rap/rnb music?

  • I like learning from your workflow =] A quick question, does the akai work with 64 bit windows 7?

  • @DJSeasho of course the akai will work with any computer that has a usb port and

works with the basic midi spec which most software packages include as a driver.

  • @Madjef I know of issues with midi controllers being compatible with the new 64 bit systems, I have multiple usb devices that do not work with windows 7 64 bit os. Thanks for your response, could you tell me the OS you're running?

  • another herbbie hancock on the keyboards

  • Comment removed

  • ienjoyrolling, yes, but what's the original recording? that is the question :) stay blessed

  • Excellent words of wisdom. I love how you stress on creativity and the passion for what you do to drive you.

It's not all about the hardware, or tools. Yes, they play a vital part in this, but...it's more a less of you using them to paint your picture, not the other way around. Good stuff Jeff.

  • VenVile, thanks for the positive feedback, I think you're comment will help others see what I'm trying to accomplish here. appreciate that.

  • CKProductionzz, thanks for the positive feedback. much appreciated.

  • That keyboard holder/prop is legit... where did you find that?

  • Sounds great.

Drums are tight they make everything else sound good

  • ColdGripHandle, that's the idea, drums are the base and the sprinkles. a little flavor for the basic beat and then things to pull it all together after chords and stuff.

  • X L ENT !!!

  • aaronwolfson, thanks for your feedback. just trying to inspire

  • xoxoesxoxo, yo, i just kinda prop it up on my desk, whatever it takes so i have everything right in front of me.

  • Hey madjef just wanna say these videos are inspirational! keep em comin!

Was just wondering though, I'm thinkin bout gettin an akai mpk49, was wondering if you had any trouble setting it up with your software etc. and if it's user friendly and worth the money? Thanks

  • MickeyMontz, thanks for the feedback. Glad you enjoy the videos, I enjoy making them. I think the akai mpk49 is a great piece of gear if like me you have lots of software samples to trigger. When I was using floppy disk storage back in the day i had to have the mpc. now, no disks, same features as mpc, swing, pads, appreggio. its coo

    madjef

  • Hi!

I have just bought myself an akai mpk 49, and I have not been able to get any sound out of it yet.

I am trying to make a Home Studio! i am using the program Live Lite Akai Professional Edition, wich came with the keyboard. I dont realy know what to do, so i was hoping for help! i just wanna get started making music, but since the keyboard wont make any sound, i dont know what to do!

i just need some help A.S.A.P.

  • bjay555, hopefully you've figured out that you need a USB output on your keyboard to play software synths or a midi out with interface to trigger outboard synths.

    madjef

  • yeah i figured it out now im making beats now :D

  • slo beat..i dig it..i like it

  • Ducez69, thanks man, just tryna keep it 100 me.

  • DrakeakaDrizzfan123, ok, ok, you peeped that one out. you must have some records at the crib. whatup?

    madjef

  • great stuff man, but i have a question though :P when im trying to record my beats with fl studio, and i use my midi keyboard, i never seem to get the drums and stuff synced. when i hit the keys on my keyboard, the notes never get in beat. do you know whats the prob maybe? :)

  • Good looking out on tha tip man.

  • How do u chop a record on that thing? I don't think you can sample from a record a mpk is there another way of doing it?

  • You'd have to rip the audio file from the record through your turntable on to the computer and then use the audio file in a chopping software of some sort (Propellehead's Recycle is usually the best if you don't have a mpc) and then you load the sounds onto which ever pads you desire.

  • Adrenalinex03, good answer, each one teach one.

    madjef

  • Lol on the phone at the beginning..

    Good advice though! appreciated!

  • yeah, hello, okay, bye. It felt good, i went with it.

    peace

  • hey man like your stuff! I was wondering whats that thing surrounding your microphone and where did you get it?

  • mrjabb483, thanks for the love. that thing around the mic is from Studio Electronics SE, designed to remove room reflections. You can get it at guitar center i think.

    madjef
