I have a lot of respect for Ryan, but I don't like how he always pulls guard, and then complains to the ref when his opponent dosen't immediately engage. What does he expect, for them to charge blindly into what everyone knows is the strongest part of his game?

Yeah I watched all of his matches. I was very impressed that he beat glover and curran, but he only stood with leo when points started counting, and he would be penalized if he pulled. Hahah dude I think Ryan is awesome! It was just an observation

Watch Ryan's recent matches at the Grapplers Quest world series against Wilson Reis and then there's another guy where Ryan Darces him from the full mount. He also hits a double on Reis, who is a big guy. Ryan is definately turning into a top player. Like GRAPPLERMODEL said, you are soo Ryan '07.

@DannyMullenBjj In that situation though the guy was making it pretty difficult to engage and then wouldn't engage when Ryan pulled guard to allow him so... I dunno it's all subjective it could go both ways.

@DannyMullenBjj I read that he's only trying to get on top from now on and in training tries to sweep from bottom. That could be the way to do it, work on half of your game and become a monster at it then work on the rest later. He's still pretty young, Hall is going to be wrecking dudes for a while.

Don't you need to be physically touching your opponent in order to sit guard?

In bjj, you need a grip on the gi in order to legally sit guard. I've been to a lot of nogi tournies where this rule applies.

Is it different at adcc?

i've heard that they actually subtract points but i also think in the first few minutes of adcc matches, it is submission only and no passes or sweeps or anything like that count as points
