  • My touchpad works just before "User Sign-in" which allows access to the computer. Only after sign-in, it would be matter of time (2-5 minutes)before the touchpad started to fail. Today 2/11/12 Saturday I received an email from ASUS my PC being shipped"(to me). Touchpad and fan was replaced. 2 weeks ago ASUS sent me an estimate to have replaced the HDD and Heat Sink, quite the wrong diagnosis. HDD was replaced 1 month ago(Geek Squad). I remind ASUS about my current Warranty >> ASUS rediagnoses hmm

  • Here is the solution: watch?v=iUN9CKMSSwg

  • It is a harware problem... I fixed it disassembling the laptop. I cannot put links here, but look for the thread: G73/74/53 Series Driver and Application Reference in forums of asusrog.com

Look for the post #753... Hope you find it useful.

  • @SH3837 put some photos there of the parts you cut (the metallic ones).. i will add the link on my video..

  • Update... still working %100 !! My usb mouse is now collecting dust, by the way, its worth mentioning that one of the software fixes I did, im 90% sure that it was reflashing the bios with version 213 caused two finger gestures like two finger scroll and pinch zoom no longer work. I think thats why some people saw some sucess with it because the tape thats causing the problem is acting like another finger staying in that spot. Thats why disabling pinch zoom helps.

  • would piss me off so much because i have tons of icons on my desktop and go to move my mouse and it would enlarge them and fuck em all up and they were so out of order

  • @baconsizzle121 turn off the pinch to zoom function... at least it stop enlarge your icons :D

  • @gajomau yeah i did that a while ago lol. I would get so pissed becuz i have so many icons on my dekstop and than they would be offscreen and stuff it was so annoying

  • DONT DELETE SYNHELPER.EXE LIKE I SAID TO MONTHS AGO, ITS A BANDAID AND DOESNT SOLVE THE REAL PROBLEM, ITS A DAMN PIECE OF METALIC TAPE ON THE BACK OF THE TRACKPAD. REMOVE IT, CLEAN LEFT OVER GUNK OFF AND DONE DONE DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I SWEAR TO GOD

  • @homebrewman23 i don't trust anyone who builds model airplanes

  • Update on the hardware fix... Still works %100 so finally its REALLY fixed for once. Also I am pretty sure you dont have to completely dissasemble it to get that piece of tape off. If you take off your hard drive cover, take out the left hardrive, (the one behind the trackpad) and carefully remove that piece of black plastic sheeting, you have access to the back of the trackpad to do the repari!

  • I swear to god the fix I posted 4 months ago doesnt work. The one I just posted does work 100% and if you did as much research as I did, you will agree that it is that damn piece of tape on the back of the trackpad. I could feel the spot on the trackpad where the problem originated before I ever even took the thing apart. When I got it apart I KNEW that piece of tape was the problem because of where it was! CMOn people lets beat this goddamn problem Right Now!!

  • Ok I FINALLY realy figured out how to fix this issue. It is a hardware issue but it can be fixed for free by yourself. You have to take the trackpad off (kind of a pain) and there is a piece of metal fiber tape stuck in the worst possable spot. You have to take the piece of tape off and clean off all the adhesive left from the piece of tape with rubbing alcohol. Dont waster your time doing software fixes, I tried them all

  • @koto772 thanks

  • song name?

  • @stanistheman12 Pendulum - 9,000 Miles

  • good pendulum song... fuck yeah

    shitty asus touchpad... fuck no

  • Hey brooo i have fixed this fucking problem!!! :D i only unistalled the ATK driver and installed this version: ATK 1.0.0010, also uninstalled the synaptics drivers, download the latest version available form the official page and installed it (synaptics 15.2.20.0) , now I have no problem! : D my laptop is a G73JW-A1.

PD: My english is not good, but i only want to share my solution :)

  • @erickhalo3

Thanks man, but the model number you have is different than mine. Mine is an asus G73JH. I've spoken to several asus techs and they claim it's hardware malfunction. I have an RMA i'm just debating on sending it in or not i'm afraid they will send it back with new drivers or wipe my OS clean. Plus It may take up to 3 weeks. I'll give your suggestion a try and hopefully it fixes the issue.

  • @jdmsohccoupe you have to do some tweaks on synaptics ( disable pinch to zoom).. i know a good forum with the last updates to the JH.. send me a PM a i will sent you the link.. :D

  • I have this same problem.

  • My bro found a solution. He was digging on websites and found a Bios update and a synaptics driver that fixed it for our laptops. now mine works fine. no more mouse getting stuck bullshit.

  • SAME FUCKING PROBLEM...BEST BUY WON'T DO SHIT ABOUT IT EITHER (GEEK SQUAD BLOWS)

  • @71240z have you tried contacting asus directly? they do have 1 year manufacturers warranty. All you need is a receipt or proof of purchase saying you purchased within the last year.

  • HERE IS THE TOUCHPAD FIX go to task manager and kill SYNHELPER.exe, go into program files, synaptics folder and delete or move SYNHELPER.exe out of the folder somwhere. Problem solved! alot of times if the cursor wont move, its not even something wrong with the hardware or the drivers, you just tap the pad and it works. it will sometimes click on to an item which can be disabled in the touchpad settings

  • @homebrewman23 Didn't expect this to work, but it seems like it is so far. About 20 min with no issues yet.

  • @BobTheTERROR

My fix was short lived, i'm setting up an RMA now with ASUS support. I think they are overseas because their English is not that great. But be sure you have your proof of purchase because i think warranty for these laptops ended may of 2011. But if you bought your laptop within a year they will honor the repair. I also started having issues battery now. My laptop says fully charged but only last 5 minutes when i unplug the battery. The display says it's 95% then shuts down.

  • FUCKING ASUS TAKE EVERY BODY YOUR EXPENCIVE LAPTOPS G73JH AND GIVE TO ASUS BACK, I GONNA DO THAT IN SEPTEMBER ,FUCKERS I HAVE 3 ASUS LAPTOPS AND EVERY HAVE SOME PROBLEMS!!!!!! WHY FOR THAT MONEY I NEED TO FUCKING THINK ABOUT SOME DRIVERS OR FIX SOME PROBLEMS FOR THAT MONEY THAT LAPTOP MUST FLY IN FUCKING SKY=((((

  • @bently1408 Every manufacturer hits laptop on market then slowly fixes problems with drivers, here on G73JH are plenty of them and near all must be installed to get perfect gaming machine;-)

  • yes i have the same problem , i disable pinch zoom to(((((( fucking asus thay cant do normal so expencive models

  • same problems here i disable the pinch to zoom on mine because it was really annoying me. My bro has one as well and his is the same, these touchpads are crap. I love the laptop just hate the touchpad.

  • could u please make a crysis 2 gameplay with full graphics`??

  • @koto772 there are already videos on youtube showing that..

  • @koto772 there are already videos on youtube showing that..

  • this laptop is meant to be used with I mouse . It's too heavy to be carried around .Better be used as a desktop .

  • @Alexanderson1988 true.. at some point.. but if it has a touchpad, at least it should work properly..if it wasn't meant to work then they never should put one in first place..

if it´s there, its to work...

  • @gajomau i have the same laptop mate , been using it for 4 months and no that often ... the spacebar is busted :D so Im guessing that this computer really fails..

  • Should have got a mac ;) jk haha, i guess you can just use a mouse if it isnt workin

  • @Disciple1818 lol.. i personally don't like MAC's.. :D

they are to expensive for their money/value/hardware.. and worse, they have problems to.. they are not perfect.. :D

thats my workaround.. i use a mouse :D

  • @gajomau Haha yes all true, they also cant play games really haha, btw, was their any other problems or dislikes about this computer you had that you could tell me? I'm looking to buy this maybe

  • @Disciple1818 hum.. last macbook pro it has a decent graphic card.. finally.. but still very expensive..

the g73 JH was like a "beta" model.. the g73 SW it's much better.. if you want to buy a g73, go to SW model (if you find one, because INTEL shot him self on the foot with they last problems one their new chip-sets, since that they are on a massive recalling )

the JH, had the problem of bad thermal past one the graphic card ( i had replace the thermal past of mine)

    and his touchpad

  • Simple fix: go to mouse properties (double click the trackpad at the bottom of the screen) then uncheck "pinch to zoom." Problem solved.

  • @BuckAMayzing you didn't get it.. that is one of the problems, the other one is that if you rest your fingers in that point of the laptop, the touch-pad does not work / recognizes your finger input..

there are more, but since they happen randomly it's hard to show them properly on a video..

  • Damn im having the same problem with mine.. i regret to buy this shitty asus g73 perhaps i should have bought a brand laptop. cost me a fortune too

  • @kingahmar the asus g73 is not shitty alright its the touchpad that is i mean if they fixed it it would be great

  • @kingahmar ugh man i feel the same fucking way. i shouldnt of bought this piece of shit. my touchpad does the same thing and everytime i plug the charger in the computer starts lagging, this is bullshit.

  • i have the same problem, touchpad fucking SUCKS on this laptop!!!!!

  • @preludepatrick yep.. true :P

  • I had the same problem. I downloaded the touchpad driver version V15.0.11.0 Can be found on the Asus website for the G73JW model. Then open moodpad and drag it off to the side so it's out of the way. While moodpad is running in the background you will not have any problem with the touchpad.

I am currently trying V15.1.9.0 seems to be working good so far too.

  • @elagyrrep and the missing key strokes on the keyboard?

  • @gajomau

I installed bios number 211 from the Asus website and that fixed the keystroke problem for me.

  • @gajomau Bios 211 from the Asus website solved the keystroke problem for me.

  • @elagyrrep the 211 bios doesnt solved the problem of the missing key strokes for everyone.. im expecting a new beta bios to solve that.. hope.. :D

  • @elagyrrep

    no helped,

    and fu*** chinas all product.

  • @elagyrrep

Since I don't have a mouse that works on my G73-JH right now, I downloaded the V15 driver, however, I wasn't able to uninstall the old driver first, this is advised against, b/c I didn't have a mouse I couldn't uninstall the old one, however when I was done it said that it may not have installed properly,I looked up the driver properties and it said V15.. Even though I have that driver could the reason I'm still having problems be because I didn't uninstall the old driver first?

  • Sane like as me. Fail Touchpad
