@jbeatles99 Interesting theory. Have you ever looked up the word in a Spanish dictionary? By your logic, half of the cities in Los Angeles would begin with the word "Devil".
I suggest you watch "The Truth About Santa Claus" to learn about the historical St. Nicholas.
@Lillymill This documentary is only the first of 3 parts. The first part deals with the historical St. Nicholas, the other two with the modern representations of him. The important point regarding Santa Claus is that, regardless of how many symbols have been invented or added to his image, he represents a real and historical figure who worked miracles of charity in his life, and, as many believe, continues to do so through others to this day.
@c38themovie The 'truth'? Lol. So he truly floated in the sky and saved that boat? GTFOH. Adults with minds of children still believe fairytales and lies. Sad
@sekhmetmaatntr The film doesn't comment on whether the story of the boat is true or not. It simply relays all of the accounts of St. Nicholas, both the legends and the historical stories. The viewer is left to decide whether such a man actually existed and whether his merits are worth noting.
but actually it was an alien encounter...

@c38themovie
Does this documentary cite any reference to why he's called Santa if he's actually St. Nicholas?
You know, it's not like St. Nicholas was famous for bungee jumping down people's chimneys or commanding the legion of big eared darklings.
St. Nicholas has nothing to do with an old overgrown pedophile elf; deal with it :P

This is a very interesting and well researched insight on Saint Nicolas.
I always wondered if Santa Clause and Saint Nicolas were the same person?
thank you.
