It was the 6th of November, 1970, and I had just arrived @ the Presideo, in San Francisco, after a combat Tour of Duty in Vietnam. James' "Fire & Rain" was the 1st song song I heard off the plane. I was home & alive. Then, from 1974 until 1977 I saw him 7 times in concert, many with Carley, and all at the Universal Studio open air Amphitheater in West Hollywood. James Taylor has been a part of the musical fabric of my adult life and I am so thankful for every moment of every song by James.
My dad and I had had an argument. I left. The next night I got a call from the police. He had been in an accident. For the next month I visited him in the hospital until he died. All I could think about was this song. I long to have love him more. Do it.
Hello, I hope you can see your own divinity and courage. People have arguments and misunderstandings. You are not to blame for your dads passing. As you realize a great many variables have to come together for any thing to happen and nothing is random. And yet this doesnt mean you created the situation for the accident to take place.
Your dad would want you to be gentle on yourself and to not carry the burden. He would want his son to go forth and be a light for everyone.
Come on nothing special? Not to see James emote incorrectly is wonderful. He sings sad songs happy and happy songs sad now. It's better than the last still scene in the french film 400 blows and director Truffaut famous and most forgot that the rest of the movie was pretty boring at times. I look forward to less is more from you. And I understand the symbolism of a lonely James showering so-called friends with love. They call it Pearl Jam.
This is the version from the wonderful concert that James did in his home town a few years back, it was shown on BBCTV a couple of years ago a brilliant concert. If you get a chance to see the pictures you will see that this track slowly builds to a crescendo with the a choir in the background and the audience joining in on the choruses. pepegirl8 is correct when she says "Far and away the Best Version of this awesome song on YouTube!
