Hey nice job on figuring out the melodies and stuff, you must have a pretty good ear. I might suggest that you get a good jazz mouthpiece though, as the selmer C* is suited more towards a darker, classical tone. A jazz mouthpiece, coupled with that nice sax, would allow ou to open up and project more with a crisper tone. Good work though, keep it up.
I'd argue that the pureness of a classical mouthpiece fits especially the beginning of the passage. However, I'd agree with you that the crispness is 9/10 times a must have for jazz, and if that is the style you want, you can look for an Ottolink, Meyer or Jody Jazz mouthpiece, but if you want to keep pureness, escape from the ligature(Get one that restricts reed vibration more, e. g. Rovner) or get a reed that is not cane.
Good job, especially w/ transcribing. To transcribe well is a talent.
You should try 3 reeds or maybe even 2 1/2. I think you'd do better with those, not a 3 1/2.
