Well surprise, surprise. Sonic winning his OWN FLIPPING TOURNAMENT. If you ever do decide to do this again, perhaps you could pick only the more obscure characters (like the comic characters, show characters, scrapped characters etc.)? Then, I think, every character would have a fighting chance, AND there wouldn't be so much bias in favor of the main series characters.
