Your points are valid. For example, country music comes from the U.S.A. However, it does not mean that all Americans are influenced by it. Even blue grass music is unique and different from it. Whether a nation is big or small, it can have much variation.
You mentioned "darkness" in regard to the folks in this film. What exactly would be the cause of it? They certainly are not African if they are in the Iberian peninsula.
Gypsis are in many countries and they are a different race from us also in Spain, spanish gypsys are quite well integrated in Spain, that means that they don't work or study since they have strange rules but they speak a totally perfect spanish since they born here etc. They normall are poor or without not many money and they often don't study, specially women since their tribe don't allow them to study etc,etc. For example Penelope Cruz the fampus actress look so exotic for us because they say

this DVD is VERY old, and it is just a movie,this DON'T represents all the spanish culture. Just the gypsy one.
