@nastymonsters2 If you need the end credits to this tv series i have them on my channel or you can email me for the link however it's a short video entitled "The Protectors (ending credits) please be kind enough to leave a comment as this has been very hard to find.
Sorry for laughing hubbardmediagroup but that exchange of comments between yourself and mrkirksmith had me well and truly doubled up lol, thanks for the great laugh there both of you :)
Basically, Nyree keeps phoning Robert up for nookie - harrassing him in fact. Robert demonstrates that he don't need no woman - he can do his own eggs, thank you very much. He is asserting his independance. He don't need no rich 'sugar mummy'. He is striking a blow for 'men's lib'! :)
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but did you all know that Sydney Newman wanted Nyree Dawn Porter to play Cathy Gale in "The Avengers" instead of Honor Blackman? In fact, Newman didn't think much of Honor Blackman's acting. But Porter wasn't available, so Blackman was signed on. You have to wonder what might have been....
Cool programme, loved it. There was so many cool things on in the 70's and early 80's, now TV is dead to me.. so much rubbish.. thank god for dvd collections!
I also liked this show when I was a kid. Had a slight crush on Nyree Dawn Porter.(hey, it was a long time ago), but it`s true that a 30-minute action show is useless, unless it`s animation.
I loved this show, but the titles were bizarre. Most adventure shows would have given you a teaser of the action in that episode. Instead, we get Robert Vaughan frying eggs and his Irish Wolfhound scoffing them! The half hour format wasn't long enough for the suspense to bulid up, but good show anyway.
@Scenester1964: I loved this show, but the titles were bizarre.
JM: Bizarre? I remember this show and I thought they did a first rate job on the intro....whether or not it lived up to the Intro I don't rightly recall, but the casting was great. Look at that sexy shot of the girl snorkeling. To most of the US tv audience back then that was exotic. RV cooking up eggs in a London Flat was exotic too. We couldn't wait to see what happened next. Great stuff coming out of Britain.
Vividly recall as a kid when this was first shown in the US in '72 or '73. At first was excited to see Robert Vaughn again -- but was really disappointed that it was only a half-hour show. That killed it. You can't do an action adventure show in 30 min. It lasted only a handful of episodes.
I recall there was once a British crime drama my folks watched when we lived in Brooklyn in the early 70s... the end of the opening theme showed a still-shot of a shadow/silhouette of a guy wearing that fedora, looking like he could be the guy from Geoff Edwards' "All New Treasure Hunt." That image has stuck with me all the years
When I saw your picture at the end I thought, "Who is that fat, bald, slapheaded bastard?" KIDDING!!!! Seriously,I thought, "Who is that guy? I don't remember him!" But obviously it was just YouTube visual comedy. And well done, too. Love your end logo.Very professional-looking! I'm subscribing to your page right....now! You're a funny guy,HMG. You are definitely NOT a slaphead! Keep up the good work, buddy!
I definitely remember the closing theme had Tom Jones singing the last verse ("where the soul of a man..."). Am I misremembering? Is it only in the American version?

I remember this show as a kid, and that was a pretty funny frickin' surprise at the end of the credits. I read the "anything Robert Vaughn can do..." blurb, but I wasn't expecting that.
pmsl just surfing got to john barry thenzoo gang via persuaders oh havent heard protectors for a while thanks for giving the best laugh so far go slaphead you gotta be british right lol
@hubbardmediagroup Lmao that is the funniest comment I have ever seen on here, priceless..... and you have a great sense of humour to take it in the good spirit that you did.

The music of the ending is best than the intro. I remember that it was a song with lyrics, a kind of voice like Tom Jones. Anybody can get the ending?
It was Tony CHristie - the guy who did 'Is This The Way to Amarillo - with a song called Avenue and Alleyways. Search for it, it's definitely on You Tube somewhere!
Does anyone else think that the dog looks blue on this vid...
