This is really helpful! Though I was wondering, everytime I ride my stallion into grassy area's, he decides to stop and eat. D: Is there a way to get him out of the habit?
@InsanityRefined you could always try grass reins...i used to use them on my ponies when i wasn't strong enough to get their heads back up...they just prevent the horse getting their head low enough to eat :) hope i helped x
My horse is kind of trained for trail riding. And I'm going tomorrow, but the trails aren't real good.its like 2-3 foot high grass, but there is like two trails from a 4 wheeler but they have a couple puddles in them and my horse might spook cuz it will be like her first ever time with ME going on a trail ride. My friend thats coming with me is lucky she's on one thats trained for trails really well, and yeah! Hers is way shorter than mine tho! Oh well! Hope she doesn't spook much!

Nice video, great animals- also- don't go barrelling past or from behind riders- the horse may be aware of your presence, but let another rider know you are coming up from behind. Give a litle distance for the other horse/rider too before you trot or move off quickly away from them.( If any rider in the group or on trail gets dumped- stand still- don't go running after them The stirrups could be a tad shorter- but maybe this length is more comfortable for the riders knees?
Very nice -- thanks! Been riding for only a couple of months and thoroughly enjoying it. Looking forward to getting out on a trail away from the stables.
The best thing to bring especially on long trails when its hot is electrolytes. Thats one of the most important things to remember so that you can keep both you and your horse safe and comfortable if they get dehydrated. You can check for dehydration by pulling the skin close to the shoulder and neck and see if it snaps back in place..everything else she covered was correct :)
beautiful horse i own some horses my self, I never act afriad of a area when on my horses, If something does frieghtn me i get off my horse quickly and lead it tho. I bring along some carrots and some water and i bring some other things with me since i have big feilds around me when i ride i like to stop get off and just play with my horse. :) Please sub and check out my videos my first horse video will be coming soon (second really) I have lots
@LarissaJo she meant well shod. checking that all the shoes are secure not loose. nails sticking out and such. personaly our horses go barefoot so its never been an issue.
To learn HOW to teach your horse for trail riding there is a small paperback narrative Basic Training for a Safe Trail Horse with subtitle of Eliminating the Fear Factors that offers a direct, logical, concise and innovative way to relate to a horse in ways it can easily understand.

Also, you never want to take a shod horse out on a trail ride. You might hurt it's feet that way.

@hoofrise Please explain how you'll hurt a horse with shoes on a trail?
