@GuitarRazze I would guess that is likely. To get this sound out of a stock 2203 (assuming they were stock) you would need an overdrive of some sort just to push it that little bit further. Max level, drive the whole way down, tone around 10-11 oclock. This in front of a single channel valve head is a wonderful sound... especially for fluid leads :D

@Heinrick192 Both bands are good in my opinion. I applaud Metallica for getting closer to their root sound. They only did that after a big back lash from fans. Megadeth have not put out one bad album yet. Sure Risk was a little odd. Techno pop rock was a very strange sound for the band.

Not a horrible album sound quality wise though. Remaster does improve the sound quality drastically.

@erikouwehand this venue happened in mid/late February or very early March of 1984 depending on which stop of their first tour this is. Anyway, later that year probably around the April-September area was when Gar came in. And according to the Megadeth site Chris came in during December and 6 months later in May of '85 they recorded KIMB and the rest is history. Hope the time frames cleared it up for ya. Btw, this opening of skull kicks an unorthodox amount of ass. Better than the album version!
