Because he's an Uzumaki, his (almost) bloodline ability lies in sealing techniques although he had never used them before. What was more surprising, to the Kyuubi at least who panicked upon seeing it, was that it was the Six Path Sage's technique he used. So he's actually able to better seal the Kyuubi than even Minato did (something that massively impressed Bee afterwards)

What part of the Hiraishin Technique actually constitutes the 'Yellow' in the Yondaime's moniker, the Yellow Flash.
I mean, I see two things yellow in that technique: the spark of electricity as the Yondy warps, and the arc of yellow as he slashes his opponent.

@TheRikoman78 Oh obviously, if Sarutobi wouldnt of use Reaper Death Seal, he'd of been boned, but Sarutobi was (In his prime) stated to be the strongest Hokage ever, but i doubt he could just toss Minato aside, either way, its a match id like to see =D

@Goldendriger Actually, Minato was the one who taught Hiruzen how to use Reaper Death Seal.
I'm pretty sure Minato would win with that Kunai of his being thrown around.
Plus the toad summonings and his rasengan.

@11033066099 but thats no because A > B and B > C that A > C ! Hashirama knew Madara (his strengh and his weakness). Minato fought Tobi during one night and one time and, he found his weakness, gave his rasengan + Hiraishin + sceal against the Sharingan to stop controling Kyuubi ! and when Minato have met Tobi, he said "are you Madara ? no it's impossible ! but it's doesn't matter i quickly beat you"
Tobi said Shodai is the most powerful during his time but not the most powerfull Hokage
