As for air superiority, that much is a given, and is part of the doctrine of the east, which is why they developed such an intensive IADS (integrated air defense network). The Generals understood their airforce would be wiped away, but such a heavy IADS meant the west wouldn't own the skies either; hence the push towards stealth: (tit for tat), it is the nature of things.
