When I was in my fraternity, Sig Ep, at the University of Southern Mississippi in the mid 90's, my pledge class made a 12 ft long potato gun and used to shoot it for fun. Well, the SAE's got out of hand during Paddy Murphy and jumped one of our pledges on the row for no reason at all and beat his ass real bad. So.... we shot 100 pounds of dog shit on top of their roof and their house stunk for the next two months really bad!! Tough Shit huh!! lol!

Don't use duct tape on the ignition. Duct tape is highly conductive and if any part of non coated wire touches the tape you get shocked when firing.

I made a potato cannon from this video like 4 years ago make the cannon first then drill one hole in the combustion chanber and just simply spark a longnose lighter to the hole and wolla instead of possibly spraying too much and no spark you can spray as much as you want with a sure shot

If I were you I would use ABS pipe, if you happened to wear the pipe down or to much propellant (if possible and still able to ignite) PVC will explode and send shrapnel out. ABS only cracks, its much stronger and its black. Black looks so much better.

Instead of hair spray you should use old spice red zone or swagger spray. It has propane and isobutane in it.

when using the cleaner do both parts your gluing together the same for the glue both pieces. the cement softens the pvc so it will bond better.use plenty of of cleaner & cement don't be cheap about it. other wise it will come apart. plumber 14 years exp

The best thing i found was golf balls, even though there a bit pricy to fire all the time they definitely were the most accurate and shot the farthest. But like i said, anything that fits in the barrel.

Nice video friend, and not a bad design. For all those sparker questions - use a Coleman lantern ignitor. They use flint, bolt in, require only one hole, and are cheaper and more efficient. Mount it in the endcap so the fuel won't foul it and you will never have a missfire. One thing - I trust your design as I do my own, but I still would never hold the thing near my head when shooting it.
