I'm a logger, and I work in Cameron County a lot. During the summer, It's nothing to hear two or three of them as you're walking through the brush in some areas of the county. What area of Cameron County was this?
I finally saw my first two rattlesnakes in PA today-a dark phase and a light. Right on the trail I was walking in Fayette County. It let out a low hiss and that's how I saw it. But they seem like very docile snakes. Cool video
unless ur a pussy then go ahead. and they use poles and shit if ur ganna not kill it just pick the damn thing up by the tail and if ur ganna kill it just shoot it right there
everyone out of texas wears those huge leg things but theres no point a rattle snake cant strike past ur knee so if ur ganna wear snake boots get ones that go to ur knee
Aside from exceptional cases, a healthy adult male isn't going to die within 2 hours from a C. horridus bite. You'd more than likely die after getting a bill from the hospital though.
i have always heard rumors that we have these timber rattlers here in Upstate NY mainly in the Adirondack mnts.... but all my years hunting, and camping i have never seen one
I'd suggest purchasing some different equipment to secure the head of a rattlesnake in a much more efficient manner. That snake was particularly calm despite your early efforts to hold the head down to get him in the tube. Overall, very cool video!
so why do you kill these rattlers i just found a whole den the other day and although i like to catch them i would never kill one they take way to long to reproduce and very few of their young make it, there populations are dwindling not like deer as you said in another vid of yours?
@MrPheelingphine We kill for food and for skins. Plus most of the locals like to see them killed because they find them close to their homes. Not because there are more people but because the populations are rising. Just last year they found a new population of them in clarion county. There are more out there than what people think. I never said they are dwindling, and if they are then good! There are too many. I bet I could find more snakes than deer in some places where we hunt them
Awesome!!!!!!! I was taught a total different way, buy your methods are "snake friendly" & respectful. Thanx for posting the vid. I will take what I learned from you on my next hunt.

@2041022 we wear them because when if you happen to slip on a rock or a snake is setting up high on a rock they can get you above the knee.

you could just mark on your stick how long 42 inches is so there would be no need to whip out a measuring tape. just a thought
