About the Starcraft/40k arguement. The Blizz/GW relationship started along time before that. Blizzard have always been huge Warhammer followers,when the early WOW games were developed they wanted the Warhammer license but a deal fell through. They had already developed much of it and thats what the WOW universe became.

Same things happened again with Starcraft but this time they didnt bother seeking license as just copying worked so well before.

Im a gamer old enough to remember all this.

Eldar are nothing like protoss. The only similarities between Tyranids and Zerg is that they are bug like parasites. There is no such thing as blood marines (your thinking of blood ravens) and the imperial guard share nothing in common with mengsk imperial fleet. On the tabletop Eldar are an army requring alot of finesse to make work properly, however if mastered are quite something... If this was reflected online, i'd expect alot more TT players to have a hard time deciding between the virtual and miniature game.

Personally, I would've loved to have played DoWII as the Ultramarines considering their history with the 'Nids. But end of the day...in the 'eyes of the Emperor'...every chapter has it's place among the Astartes.
