This is beautiful! This is appropriate for the day Jesus was born. I would be very proud to be part of this tradition. The camera work emphasizes the simple, elegant lines of the robes and architecture. It is seamless and very spiritual for the observer.
A militant doesn't carry a staff, a militant carries a gun. Why is that so many people are so ignorant of the Ethiopian church? I'm not orthodox myself but I see a sincere and devout ceremony taking place in honor of Jesus. This looks very original and biblical to me much more solemn than those newly added sects and protestants fellowships. I belief they kept their faith the way since the covenant. And they also recognize Mary as the Mother of God I think their faith is noble and true.
In Ethiopian church song, the staff - MEQOMIYA, symbolizes the Cross, Christ carried on his way to his Crucifixtion. That I know. But every other thing they do with that staff symbolize different things. my two cents...
@Yerus88 Your comment shows your ignorance. Just because you have different ways of practising faith doesn't mean you can go on this forum and portray deeply religious people as militants. Maybe you should open your narrow minded brain and interpret the gestures and the ancient chanting as historical traits of worship. I'm Roman Catholic and I do sense the spirituality of these people.
So beautiful, and mainly i got surprised on their UNIFORMITY. So, colorful. Thanks God for letting us praise you. God bless you!
