  • the weather is fine now. we had a heavy shower around noon, but sunshine for the rest of the day. in case you're planning to come to KPN, choose to fly to Samui, since the roads around Surat Thani are broken.

  • @brian: still overcast but no wind and rain for the last 16 hours. the cloud layer seems to get thinner and thinner. hopefully, by the time you arrive, we will see the sun again for the first time in the last two weeks. enjoy your holiday!

  • does anyone know how bad it is there. I am literally leaving on vacation tomorrow and just decided to google the weather. I am bummed out to say the least.

  • Well, this is pretty unusual for this time of season in Thailand.....it should be dry and hot...!??

But , as always, everything will be back on track very quickly......i've experienced myself several of such problems (floods, demonstration, tsunami...and others).

Don't worry, if there is a people capable of rising again from trouble.......these are the THAIS.

  • Chris, I don't think you should worry. By then, we will most probably switch back to the hot and dry season. Congratulations!

  • @brad: thanks for your reply. I'm due to be staying in the Santhiya resort from the 30th April for my honeymoon so am a bit concerned. stay safe!

  • @chrismcc85: HI Chris, I'm due to go to Santhiya around the same time for my honeymoon. Have you heard anything about the situation at the resort? Thought I'd try to call them on Saturday morning to check.

  • @laralynchchan The only thing I heard was that their speedboat had been damaged by the storm. Other forums suggest that the Santhiya avoided damage due to the hillside position. I tried ringing a couple of times last week but the line was dead. Saying that, it was at the time where the storm was really bad. I've just e-mailed them and I'll update this thread when they reply. We're not overly worried to be honest so we're keeping our booking. With a bit of luck, we might see you guys there :-)

  • @chrismcc85: Thanks Chris. I've just received an email from them which says "I’m pleased to inform you that right now everything is fine in Koh Phangan. There has been sunshine whole day. We have water supply and no problem of electricity cut off. We are running our usual schedule normally with guests transferring through speedboat to our resort and vice versa since there’s no high waves like the past weeks, the sea is as calmed as could be." So it's looking positive! Hope to see you there! :)

  • @Chris: this video was taken in Chaloklam village, North of Koh Pha Ngan.

  • oh my god!!!!!!!!! what happening to the Earth today?

  • Where exactly was this video taken? Anywhere near Thong Nai Pan Noi beach?

  • Wow that's the worst I've ever seen it.
