  • jmantalbot:"It's a very spiritual and traditional art...".->REAL aikido is not spiritual and traditional art,you are talking about aikido!Real aikido is different! He is created for people otuside Japan, and you can adapt that skill for you.Everyone have his own style ,and it is great becouse this skill trening different people (someone is low, someone is high, someone have 15 years, someone 40,someone have 50kg,someone 80kg etc)if you understand me.Everyuone have his own technics

  • i beleive this is just bullshit. organized piece of crap.

  • looks like that to me.. i'm learning ju jitsu.. that ju jitsu guy even if he's got the stance and all right... ju jitsu and aikido are based on self defence both of them so its really just the one that attacks who loses thats why ju jitsu lost there. in reality aikido vs ju jitsu = nothing happens. thats what i think :) since both are waiting for the other to attack

  • @Xtaze It is organized in training. They guy is trained to fall correctly so he is not hurt during a demonstration. In an actual fight this person is probably not trained to react that way, now imagine the possibilities, someone not expecting will have a great risk of tearing and dislocation of their arm, before a throw or trap is even initiated. I have seen one real fight, the non aikidoist was hospitalized, and unfortunately the aikidoist went to jail, (excessive force) and he didnt start it

  • good =)

PO..: why the traines r always fat ?? jejeXD

  • IoI here we like to call it "center of KI" xD

  • @zFerAresz he have more power :D

  • It sounds like you have only been doing Aikido for a short time. Your enthusiasm will take you far. But you must realize that going around saying how great Aikido is when compared to everything else only makes the art look bad.

  • Watch an episode of cops. Many of the techniques they use to take down suspects can be found in Aikido. Something I didn't realize until I started Aikido.

  • you don't get it; the problem is not that the techniques aren't real, the problem is that they don't practice against someone who's really trying to hit back.

  • You're absolutely right. That is a huge flaw in Aikido. My problem with most negative comments is that they are nothing but blanket statements. To just blindly say something doesn't work without ever having tried it is the very definition of ignorance.

  • Im doing Aikido and I got a friend who is doing Kickboxing and he had not even a small chance against me and I would say that Kickboxing is normal standart way of fighting.

  • I totally disagree with you. I think any mixed martial artist, kickboxer, or boxer would kick most Aikidoist's ass. It does work though in most street situations, I know many people who can vouch for that. But if your goal is to say I can beat people who practice "x" style then Aikido is not for you. It's a very spiritual and traditional art that will not appeal to the vast majority of people who just want to learn how to fight.

  • But its wrong to say that Aikido is weak against other martial arts! Did you ever fought against an Aikidoka? I think not because then you would feel how helpless you are triyng to hurt him/her.

  • I have fought an Aikidoka, he was in for quite a shock to find people don't always just run into you, and allow you to throw them around. People don't comply with your moves like they do in training.

  • It is not the same if the aikidoka is DAN or not. Hi/she is training 5-10 years (or more) and you do not have to say that they are helpless against kickboxer or boxer. every martial art is very usefull - do not compare them on this way. Let kickboxer attack 60 - year old japanese master, he (attacker) will loose hand or leg... beleve or not they are very dangerous even in this age,..........

    REI

  • I would say Akido is not a style to learn if you are looking to fight other individuals because it is a purely defensive art.

  • if you've never fought an Aikidoist you are talking out the the part where you should be pooping.

  • it makes me sad that there are people who believe this will DO ANYTHING in a real fight.

  • Nice demo. Thanks.
