  • Your right Roy, Harlan and Wynn Stewart wrote it and Wynn recorded it. I used to sing it when I was still playing, but never did hear it too much on the radio. You did a great rendition of it!!!---Lee

  • Glad you liked it they wrote quite a few songs.

  • Nice job Roy.I'm glad you did it,cause i only sing in the shower...don't want the neighbourhood dogs howling anymore then they have to.lol

  • Aw come on bust loose with one, Just get brave.

  • Thanks for the encouragement, but the howling from those mutts is really annoying.but.....maybe a

  • perhaps after the dog catcher takes the mutts off to the pound,i'll give it another try.but the women in the neighbourhood said if i walked around naked again they would report me to the local nut house.

  • I knew the guy who wrote this. We were both locked up in the psychiatric ward of the V.A. hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi, right after coming back from the Vietnam War. He used to sing us this song and tell us he wrote it. We did not know whether to believe him or not until they ran an article in the hospital newsletter about it. Nobody had recorded it as far as I know back then. This is the first I have heard it since I heard him sing it.

  • That was an awesome story, Thanks for the info. The song itself tells a pretty good story.

  • Buck Owens, Wynn Stewart both recorded it and have found Harlan Howard and Wynn Steward as the song writer so dont realy know, Do you remember the guys name.

  • I don't remember his name. They had a music room at the hospital, and I used to go with him there to play guitars. If he didn't write it, he had the staff of the hospital convinced he did, because they wrote an article about him in the hospital newsletter. Another country tearjerker is born. He was a good singer. After they wrote the article about the song, I believed he wrote it. Once in a while after that, the words of that song would go through my mind. Never heard it again till now.

  • super job,tks.

  • Thans for stopping by, enjoy doing these golden oldies.

  • great style, Mr. Roy! there's a great lilt to your voice that some guys and gals would kill to have...great tune

  • thanks for stopping by and appreciate the kind words. I have always tried to do my own thing on my renditions and not copy the original artist.

  • Wow this is great !

Thats awesome Haha i thought this was written by Buck Owens or Waylon Jennings .. Thats a great version you did though , I really enjoyed it !

  • Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Great job on this great song. 5 stars

  • thanks for the complement. Just enjoy doing the old songs. Cant hardly stand the repetitiveness of the new songs with the back ground music drowning out the singer.

  • Really enjoyed your performance.

    5 stars your way.

    Lloyd.

    Darlene

  • Glad you liked it, I enjoy digging up old meaningful songs.

  • I like that title, "An Awful lot of Heartaches for a Dime". Only country song writers can come up with those great "some body done some body wrong song" songs and give a name that hits dead center. Great presentation.

    Bill

  • I appreciate your comments. Love the older music and try my best to keep them alive. Working on some old time cowboy ballads most are quite long but dont want to loose the intent of the story.
