Your right Roy, Harlan and Wynn Stewart wrote it and Wynn recorded it. I used to sing it when I was still playing, but never did hear it too much on the radio. You did a great rendition of it!!!---Lee
perhaps after the dog catcher takes the mutts off to the pound,i'll give it another try.but the women in the neighbourhood said if i walked around naked again they would report me to the local nut house.
I knew the guy who wrote this. We were both locked up in the psychiatric ward of the V.A. hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi, right after coming back from the Vietnam War. He used to sing us this song and tell us he wrote it. We did not know whether to believe him or not until they ran an article in the hospital newsletter about it. Nobody had recorded it as far as I know back then. This is the first I have heard it since I heard him sing it.
Buck Owens, Wynn Stewart both recorded it and have found Harlan Howard and Wynn Steward as the song writer so dont realy know, Do you remember the guys name.
I don't remember his name. They had a music room at the hospital, and I used to go with him there to play guitars. If he didn't write it, he had the staff of the hospital convinced he did, because they wrote an article about him in the hospital newsletter. Another country tearjerker is born. He was a good singer. After they wrote the article about the song, I believed he wrote it. Once in a while after that, the words of that song would go through my mind. Never heard it again till now.
thanks for the complement. Just enjoy doing the old songs. Cant hardly stand the repetitiveness of the new songs with the back ground music drowning out the singer.
Very Nice Roy... one of my cousins Don Deal use to sing with Wynn Stewart.. that was great.. loved it.. Been out of state for a week so its gonna take me some time to catch up on my responses.. Thanks
I like that title, "An Awful lot of Heartaches for a Dime". Only country song writers can come up with those great "some body done some body wrong song" songs and give a name that hits dead center. Great presentation.
I appreciate your comments. Love the older music and try my best to keep them alive. Working on some old time cowboy ballads most are quite long but dont want to loose the intent of the story.
I miss read latest, for for last, sorry I messed up. I'm glad I was wrong anyways. At any rate I think this song is one that I like best. Good singing!!!!
Roy, what a great job you did on this song. I'm at a loss for words from you statement "This is my last recording". Please remember there are people out here that love you and enjoy what you do. Follow your heart with what ever you do.
Great sing on this! I truly enjoy listening to you, you bring back so many memories with great style my friend! 5**** Keep then coming! Have a great week,
