Yes there are flash powder and titanium in the salutes. But they are consumer fireworks. There's a video of them in the video Small Barrage of Titanium Salutes, and Fireworks Covering.

No, the paper around the fuse that is used to keep the fuse from igniting with friction. The plastic cover worked excellently!
