  • too bad you cant see that here...

  • i had no idea you could see a nebula so clearly like that across the sky! its beautiful

  • does the sky really look like this at night? i live in the city and sure you see the brightest stars some recognizeable constellation but it doesnt look very crowded, a few dots here and there, i did once see more stars one night when the electricity went for a few hours in the middle of the night it was beautiful but was also a full moon so not quite dark(caribbean)

  • @ladyevenstar22 you'd be surprised by the amount of stars that seemingly come out of no where when just a few lights are removed. no cloud cover, especially dark nights are spectacular. why I got into it, it's amazing.

  • The mysterious beauty of cosmos goes beyond hearts and stuck in the mind.

  • I've read that light pollution could be reduced significantly just by using fixtures design to direct all their light down. So maybe one day, well be able to enjoy the night sky even in a big city. It probably still wouldn't look this good, but I'll take any improvement.

  • I wish that there could be a holiday for the whole world that it would be called Night Sky

where every city, town, and other places could be shut off and everyone would enjoy the beautiful night sky just by looking at billions, billions, and billions of stars and galaxies :)

  • I had one hell of a headache before watching this. It's gone now...

  • Very intriguing channel, i shall subscribe... you now have a new subscriber

  • Had it not been for my love of art, I would have loved to do this. I'm just dying to get to see my first starlit night. Truly brings a tear to my eye that I haven't had an opportunity to do so.

  • Fucking light pollution, i need to get out of this town and get in the countryside so i can see all this

  • Pause at 4:06 and just above the building on the right you can see an eliptical misty patch - that's the Andromeda galaxy 2.5 million light years away.

  • @denispkpk Your wrong bro. to Observe Andromeda you have to be in the north Hemisphere, but i guess it kinda has it's Figure.

  • FUCKING COMMERCIALS

    >.<

  • astrophotography sounds like an adventure I will get around to trying.

panoramic night photos at events are so romantic and enjoyable to capture as a side note.

  • He is stalkin for some alien titis!

  • You could say light destroys spirituality.

Imagine this would be what ppl see at night every night.

  • Wait. With no Light Pollution can you actually see the milky way like that or is that long exposure? I've lived in a city my whole life sadly and only get to see a few stars.

  • @gltichydethklok Yep. I was in Nebraska camping last summer and the first night this was pretty much what the sky looked like. It was awesome. You can easily find yourself staring up at it for a good chunk of time

  • For those asking where to do this in the US. Arizona, Utah, etc... Desert is the best. Dustin Farrell does a lot of this, so google him.

  • Whats the song at 2:19?

  • Where can i see a good night sky in America?? Midwest northeast?

  • @romka4567 Deserts are the best place. Death Valley would be a great start.

  • Wonderful - thank you

  • wow...

  • @Saikano2012 I feel u, I moved from Arizona to New York, fuckin LP is rediculous man

  • wow just amazing

  • I FUCKING HATE LIGHT POLLUTION! I have to travel 52miles south to view nearly dark sky and I have to go halfway across the country to get total dark sky.

  • ausome ;dude i hate it

  • What do americans think of orientals?

  • amazing pictures :P

  • are these real nights you can see with the naked eye from around 0:25 ? :O :O

  • im so stoned...

  • Back when I lived in Africa this is all you could see at night, not light pollution, while we sat outside and talked and sat around the fire, the good ole days. Go somewhere remote for once and witness a sky like this and I promise you this, you'll wanna stay

  • @ItzTheDean i hope to some day, we should all try see it at least once

  • @ItzTheDean No doubt. I grew up in Viet Nam in my early childhood and now I'm in Canada. There are some things I miss about the old ways of life as well. It's funny I usually experience the simple things first hand, now I have to relegate myself to experiencing them virtually.

  • wow this looks so amazing i had no idea you could see this. I lived in a city so i guess the stupid lights stop me from seeing this i need to go out to the country and see this. Things like this make problems we have so little, and us as a whole are not even a spec. We Should just love life and get along.

  • the world must have been damn beautiful at night way back.

  • Your really dont have to that far to get this...like 2 hours from San Fran you can see all that

  • Whoa!! I've lived in a city my whole life. I see about two stars if I look hard enough. I never knew it was possible to see this

  • expectacular

  • From Chile!

  • chile :)

  • ugh i can"t see anything where i live, i hate cities for that!!!!!!!! i went once in the countryside and i was shocked! its sooo beautiful...peaceful

    I love you God

btw, i wish that guy wasnt talking in that video!!

  • And for long exposures and Astro photography with any camera, you can use ASTRUS wireless remote, check it out here! : astrus.bymac.org

  • if this is what we get to see in the 21st century but only in areas like hilly area or desert(due2pollution) thn imagine how bright, how beautiful the night sky would have been when our ancestors used to roam the earth,as we all know the universe is expanding so the stars we r watching today were very bright &fasinating &large too @tht tym.So was the moon closer to the earth...which means even with pitch dark sky our moon & stars would hav made our sky spectacular thing2watch,isnt it?

  • I think it's nice when there's a few stars on my sky. If I saw a night sky on the desert I would go CRAZY! :P

  • And If after seeing this, you deny the existence of a higher being than you, that's just sad.

  • @MrDaviebamaikata How is it sad?

  • Few things are as glorious as the night sky, it reminds us of how insignifcant we are in the grand scheme of things, and that beauty is never more than a look upwards away.

  • at around 6:50 there's an object that doesn't move with the rest of the stars

  • What an amazing place to live / work

  • How come the night skies are not like this in the ocean, away from all city lights?

  • @ubtrio08 too much moisture in the air. This observatory is in one of the driest areas in the world, which is why they put it there.

  • @ubtrio08:have u ever checked properly in the oceans for that coz right from ancient vougers till few ppl now (i know 2day we hav gps)navigate through the common famous stars which tell them thier directions.if u go through history u will surely find few eg.

  • At 01:00 try to find the rotation point of the stars in the southern hemi.

  • I MISS looking at the night sky. too much light pollution where I stay.

  • Bring the starry nights closer to home.

It's time to unite for this cause.

Speak UP for lights DOWN! don't let anyone speak for you. just do it... do it now.

  • Look up the video "we are here: the pale blue dot". It is a monologue by astronomer Carl Sagan. Truly an exhilarating video, speaking of our place in the universe. A masterpiece, really.

  • Discovering the whole of the universe is like an ant trying to travel the whole of the USA. It's sad to come to terms with it! But that's the beauty of it ... if you don't discover everything, the more interested you get... and that's what Astronomy / Science is all about! This is how our ancient civilization started and look where we are now!!! Inquisitiveness is so powerful!!

  • this is amazing high

  • 4:19 -4:35, boohoo, the guy needs to stay outside and look at nature's tapestry, hot water bottle, a can of beer and a few snacks - a quote from "James May from Top Gear rides in a U-2 spy plane" (and thats looking DOWN not up) - if everyone could do that once it would completely change the face of global politics, religion, education.....everything

  • can any1 pls tell me where the music is taken from ? thank u..

  • This might be a stupid question, but is this really what the sky looks like over there? Or are these pictures enhanced?

Of course I have never, nor could I have ever, seen a sky like this because America fucking sucks. lolz

  • @fcdog555 ive wonderd that as well, if it is = AHHHH bugger lol, if it IS real = "and we think were alone"

  • @fcdog555 Yes, it does, although by far not as bright as seen in the pictures because they were taken with a long exposure time. I'm sure it still would be very impressive and mind-blowing.

  • @maximkazhenkov11 Oh man that is just amazing. I will have to visit some time.

The sky over here (WA) can be pretty cool too. Only when you visit the coast though.

  • @fcdog555 There are a few bortle 1 skies left in the US. Look at Big Bend TX. Bryce Canyon National Park is also lovely. Write letters, start a petition. I promise you; starry skies can return over all backyards of children everywhere including the US. It will take a grassroots movement to make this happen. Will you help? see: int'l dark-sky assoc.

  • This is the kind of place that I would want to die.

  • From down here our world is really big. However, it is nothing but a speck of sand compared to the greatness of our galaxy. I wonder if we will ever be able to colonize it one day.

  • Hey!! There are places right here in the States that put on starry nights every bit as awesome!! Check it out! I just saw a video from South Dakota that is WOW!! I spent spring/summer once in remote Texas, and the night sky is beyond description.... huge Moon too!! Thousands of ENORMOUS stars, and countless stars of various size!! Velvet black sky w/ the stars shinning like gold ornaments on God's Christmas tree!!!

  • Wow its amazing I wish I could see that up close

  • Im sure that someday i will come there, im 100% sure :) See you .

  • not for me.. Im gonna try my best to see that stuff in real!!!!!, my dad has done it, cause he traveled, so im gonna do it too, HA. i hope. ;.;

  • And people say there is no such thing as god and believe in evolution way bullshit how can something this spectacular and beautiful jus happen naturally even alot of scientists say the chances of the theory or evolution happening are so so mynute, evolution is pure bull n this vid proves it

  • @TripleOG786

how does the nightsky beeing beautiful disprove evolution and prove that there is a god? How can u take this leap of faith and not realise that its just that.

  • @TripleOG786 You are full of Bullshit. It's people like you who have fucked up this Planet.

  • @TripleOG786 You're right, the beauty of the stars and the vastness of the universe compared to our insignificant planet obviously shows evolution is wrong... did you even attempt to pull those things together with some reason or logic?

  • @TripleOG786 I usually dislike rudeness but really, how the hell did you even connect those two ideas?

  • @TripleOG786 Evolution is widely accepted. Do you have any names for these scientists who say differently? Why can't these happen naturally? There may well be a God, but why would he shape every last detail of everything? Wouldn't it make more sense for a God to cause the Big Bang, then let things unfold from there. Coming to this video and bashing a theory which has nothing to do with astronomy is trolling. Also, theories in science aren't just speculation, they have evidence to back them up.

  • @chonomakona DIOS Creador de todas las cosas es el hacedor del Universo Sideral

  • These milkyway timelapses were filmed in the middle of the Australian desert

    watch?v=Z-uuRUD1dvA

  • i meant to say only in the southern hemisphere can you see ENTIRE milky way , in the northern hemispher you can only see half the spiral and center of the milky way

  • "OH MY GOD! IT'S FULL OF STARS!"

  • OMG this is nice!

  • I live in New Zealand, and on a clear night there is what I thought was a star directly above me , but using my Binoculars, it is a fuzzy ball if you like. Could this be another Galaxy ?

  • @fjbutch could this be the moon maybe?

  • @Kvokki Good One.... Lol....

  • El universo es tan extenso...logrará algún dia el hombre contactarse con seres pensantes de otros mundos....??

Chile se ha convertido en los ojos del mundo hacia el espacio.

Saludos desde Viña del Mar, Chile.

    .

  • FUCK LIGHT POLLUTION

  • @Thh991 FUCK YEAH!

  • too cool

  • i wish i could live forever, i would walk to the galaxies with my family

  • I Am Wondering. Where Do Aliens Live? They Keep Visiting Us And In My Own Opinion.. We Are Not Alone.

  • @11112213314415516617 statements like "they keep visiting us..." will not get you much respect in life, the only ears that will listen to this will be like minded people which in your case might not be best....it is more than likely very true that there are 100's of other civilastions throughout the universe but as for them visiting us here, its highly unlikely, also travelling from one galaxy to another would be so complex and advanced that we as a spices would have nothing of interest to them

  • HERMOSO!

  • wait, is it possible to see sights like at 00:30 (nebulas etc) with the naked eye in some parts of the world? If so then I've never seen anything like it where I live....

  • superbe

    bravo

    et français en plus

    cocorico

  • people should note that it is only in the southern hemisphere that you can see the milky way stretch across the entire sky, in the northern hemisphere the most you can see is half of the sky streaked with the milky way.

also, some of the pictures are long time exposures, the reason you dont see star streaks is because the camera was mounted on an equatorial mount that rotates with the earth

  • 0:54, how do you get that type of rotation without being on one of the axis's of the earth?

  • 2:50 was beautiful and 5:15 is wow. 5:45 my mouth dropped.

  • 2:50 was beautiful

  • Amazing. How can you dislike this ???

  • Amazing!

  • Can anyone go there and take pictures? Or do you have to get permission?

  • @mfposoab It is very difficult to get to, I suspect and exceedingly dry; probably the world's driest desert. I imagine there are tourist trips there, but there is a website for the observatory, just look for Cerro Paranal in search. I would think it would be expensive, and difficult to get there. very challenging. Try one of our deserts here in the US first? Camping in one would get you some beautiful vistas of the sky. There are probably tour groups that specialize in this?

  • i cant believe i missed so much in life till now,how come i never knew the sky was this beautiful.....?

  • Words just fail me trying to describe the beauty of this video. So I'll just say WOW!

  • this is sooo cool :D

  • Some people think that an intelligent designer must exist just because something looks beautiful. Wrong! This is a logical fallacy. The beauty is nothing more than a mixture of different elements left over from a super-nova explosion.

  • crazy beautiful universe we live in =)

  • yes. over 52,000 views. keep spreading the word, ppl. ;-)

  • what's that ambient music played in the background ?

  • @kiesha86 i'm dying to know that too, especially the song that begins at 1:33 !

  • We are just germs on an atom; metaphorically.

Sometimes we forget that things may look at us in microscopes.

  • @Nemesis0300 i always think about that. <3

  • My friends think i'm crazy when i want to stay up all night just to look at the sky

  • @nightmares121 my friends think i'm crazy when i get high and then look at the sky

  • @WhiVe87 ;))))

  • 4:14 theres like 3 meteors!

  • i'm not originally from L.A., but back at my native country when it's dark almost everyone turns of their lights. and when you look at the sky its amazingly beautiful. there is no word to describe the magnificent sight. when it's a full moon you can actually see the light of the moon actually touching the ground. the moon acts like the sun, and i took it for granted. now i'm in L.A. and you can't see shit. stupid light pollution.

  • sometimes i sit back and wonder...What if there are other humans in this Universe, on another Earthlike planet billions of lightyears away?....whats if there are Centillions of Planets like Earth with billions and billions of other Humans? God couldnt have created this massive Universe and have us be the only life in it on this completely insignificant speck of dust? Could he?

  • @Bloopersdude1 I am Atheist but my understanding of the Idea of god is that he is everything and all powerful. I don't believe this B.S. but if god did exist, yes it would be possible for him...What is impossible however is human habitation of other places in the universe. No there are not humans anywhere except for earth. There may be something else that we could possibly not even see. Creatures that breathe methane and eat arsenic. Our meeting of these aliens would kill both humans and them

  • @ibbong420 In my opinion human habitation of other places in the universe IS possible, I think it is highly likely considering the size of the universe that humans could evolve on another planet if it happened here then there is nothing to suggest it can't happen somewhere else. Or extremely advanced aliens could of taken humans from our planet and never returned them (unlikely but not impossible).

  • @8joeb If that were to be possible, it would be in another time and location in the universe, perhaps even another universe. Keep thinking

  • @ibbong420 yes when they founded the arsen microbes creatures i was so excited then. But i believe somewhere else we can habit to. thumbs up!

  • No wonder they call it the heavens

  • man i would love to see that

  • the 8 people who disliked it had a heart attack or stroke from viewing these timelapses

  • Woe to those who believe all this happened by itself.

  • Totally hopeless if it's best what humans have

  • 15 people must not like analog synth new age music either.

  • Awesome!

  • you know, i have relatives that didn't know they have an opportunity to experience and enjoy the beauty of a true night sky. I was so happy for them that i begged them to at least once in their lifetime watch these natural wonders as they are rare ocassions and i even told them the nearest location to visit. They rejected saying it was too far to travel, they didn't feel like it, etc. I got so mad 'cause its really something i feel we all need to do and I haven't yet been able to watch this! :(

  • 15 people are affraid of the dark.

  • i want my deathbed space...

  • It's amusing to think that while we have so much information and data to recollect on, hundreds of thousands of years of it, and yet.. we really know nothing still. And we have such a vast galaxy so explore, we really have such a long way to go. That is if we don't destroy ourselves during the process, which IMO is very probable.

  • this is my dream. When I am under a sky in summer, I Feel that I am at my place as a human. I know who I am and I become humble. In the city, we forget that we are less than a grain of sand. Cheers to all the dreamers

  • Sigh.. the best view of the galaxy ive ever seen from my home in perth, australia was about 3 years ago, I was just staring up into the sky and I could see all the stars lined up from one horizon to the other. I had a basic view into the galaxy's plane and man it was awesome. Absolutely nothing like these views tho...I always see vids on youtube of crazy views of the galaxy from earth and always wondered where on earth you could find them. I want to travel around some day and go to these places.

  • @icandowatevailike You're Stupid.

  • I feel sad just by knowing that out there is a gorgeous sight and I'm wasting my time here in front of the screen. Simple things like that make life worths.

  • When i see things like this i get so angry at how long time is and how short our lives are.And I know inside we will never get o travel to these places and see this in person.I look up and i feel so tiny, insignificant and ultimately in awe.I long to break free of the bonds of Earth and to explore the stars.Alas,I have my dreams and fantasies. That's as close as I'll get.

  • @fireinmycrotch well, you're right I'll give you that. but we don't know what happens after death. perhaps it isn't all so bad.

  • @fireinmycrotch Who knows.. there are many people who say death is the gateway to our greatness, our ascension. This life we know of could just be the beginning of the beginning, if you understand me. After conquering death, our next journey could be to visit the most distant galaxies and warp through black holes, to reach the very end of space and the dark-matter at the end of our universe. I don't openly believe that, but food for thought.

  • @fireinmycrotch Same here. I feel the same way you do. I've always been fascinated by the universe ever since i was a kid. I would love to explore the universe but obviously that would be too expensive and we currently don't have the technology. At least I have my dreams of deep space odysseys and my dreams of becoming a film-maker, that way i can become a sci-fi movie director.

  • @FallofDarkness55 believe it or not,one only has to look to himself to see the beauty of the universe,,,,Carl Sagan put it best.."we are all star dust"

  • @fireinmycrotch this is exactly the same way I feel, exactly

  • @fireinmycrotch look up DMT

  • @fireinmycrotch I totally agree with you.

  • 13 dislike's must be atheist

  • @icandowatevailike I'm an atheist and I love space, so no.

  • @icandowatevailike Atheists appreciate the universe more than anyone, because most of us know how it works and what it is.

  • @icandowatevailike Or religious retards, like you.

  • @icandowatevailike are you an idiot ??? 2/3 of scientist and astronomers (in the U.S) are atheist or agnostic, so shut up

  • Comment removed

  • Does anyone know why they shoot lazer beam into the sky?

btw, beautiful works... another location on my "where to go" list =)

  • Thumbs Up If you have seen the milky way on the night sky :D
