Is that dining car tall? Or are all those people short? Other than that it's a good film, I shoot black and white film and wish I could get the exposure as proper as this!
It's good to see an EMD EA &EB with the pre EMD Winton 201C prime mover. Its successor the 567 had a continuous three piece "Valve Cover". You can see the three rocker arms per cylinder. The outside ones are the exhaust and the middle one is the fuel injector. I am surprised that the cover was opened with the engine running as it could throw oil at higher throttle settings.
From either a technical or aesthetic point of view, this is one of the best "shot" films of this type. Too bad the budget didn't allow for Kodachrome. But we are lucky one of those 75 year-old, first of it's kind, slant nosed "E's" carbodies still exists in the museum in Baltimore.
it sucks streamliners could go 100mph no matter where they were in the country. in 1940 it took a train half as long to get from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh than it does now. 5hrs, now it takes 9
I like how the mail clerks all have sidearms.
Also, I think the guy at 1:09 is a time traveller from the 70s.

Beautiful trains much more comfortable than today's Amtrak....and good looking classy woman not fat pigs like today.
People had much better taste those years.

I think the uploader means 'Baltimore' & Ohio, not Burlington.
Great video!

@wrailfan
The uploader hangs his head in shame... And then laughs as you're the first person in over 1500 to notice the mistake :-) Fixed now.

I love the design of these 1940's trains, they were ahead of their time in design, why don't we have trains that look like that anymore.
