It kinda looks like the rules favored Rickson. I love the way Rickson fights but.......in true VALE TUDO which means anything goes, Rei Zulu fought a fight slanted against his strenghts, and played more to Rickson's expert ground game. If this was truly an all out fight, of course without eye gouging and the like, but with full kicks and punches, open or closed hand and knees,.... Rickson may have seen his demise that night!! They in my estimation were pretty closely matched fighters.

rickson has great pure jiu jitsu but he would've got his ass whipped if this was a true vale tudo fight! if he was a true warrior he wouldn't have demanded his special rules of no punching and kicking. zulu is a born natural fighter who can adapt to any style.
Rickson only won this fight because of the gracies special rules they set for this fight. No close handed strikes, and no kicking on the ground. They knew if they allowed those rules, Rickson would of gotten knocked out by fists or soccer kicks.

this was a tough fight for rickson, in the book "the gracie way" it says that rickson between rounds told i think it was helio and rolls "this guy is too strong" showing a little bit of discouragement and they told him are you kidding me hes scared of you , he keeps running, but they knew rickson wasn't lieing, rickson went back in there dead tired and he some how musterd up the energy and strength to pull that rear naked choke.....rei zulu was an BEAST in his day !

Rickson only won this fight because of the gracies special rules they set for this fight. No close handed strikes, and no kicking on the ground. They knew if they allowed those rules, Rickson would of gotten knocked out by fists or soccer kicks.

Alguém sabe quando o Waldemar Santana lutou com o Helio para "graduar" na academia, da qual ele era servente? Eu tenho a revista epecializada da época. Tudo foi abafado muito rápido, mas teve que sair na revista. O jeito foi dar a velha desculpa da gripe. E, lógico, ele graduou. Procurem saber sobre isso aí.

this was a tough fight for rickson, in the book "the gracie way" it says that rickson between rounds told i think it was helio and rolls "this guy is too strong" showing a little bit of discouragement and they told him are you kidding me hes scared of you , he keeps running, but they knew rickson wasn't lieing, rickson went back in there dead tired and he some how musterd up the energy and strength to pull that rear naked choke.....rei zulu was an BEAST in his day !

é.. deu uma passeio mesmo, inclusive na hora q o Rickson tava nas costas no mata-leão, o zulu deu 3 tapinhas pra curtir mais o passeio de janelinha. ai quando acabou encerrou a viagem dele.
