  • that'll be the day

  • i love john wayne!

  • a fantastic movie, broke the " white hat" mold for sure. duke went dark on this one and would never talk about it again.

  • As a Neanderthal man, I and my fellow homo erectus protest the genocide and takeover of our lands. All of you go back to Africa and stay there.

  • Brain washed Trotsky b.s. posts, wow the enemy alien trolls are watching every post.

The Women's whinning scene was put in by those who want the West to persish IMO>

  • You people are funny to keep arguing. I just thought it was a nice clip to watch. Entertainment for me. Sorry that you folks feel the need to argue. That's you tube...

  • I do not oppose white man's arrival on the new world, but the genocide they committed was mostly unnecessary, there were no millions of warriors any where in the west nor the sioux or Apaches had any advanced weapons, American whites could easily do what they had to do without disturbing them on such massive scale. All I wanna say is, they did most of the cruel things totally unnecessary.

  • @PsychoScientist007 What does this have anythign to do with a movie made in the 1950's? As if John Wayne actually went after Native Americans.

  • @AmericanOutlaw87 No one is dissing the very movie... It's a history now but I love the Wild and free way these great plains indians used to live

  • @PsychoScientist007 All right then. Sorry for the shot.

  • Jeffrey Hunter was at his best in this film, a great Actor who was in my opinion not given the recognition he deserved, This is one of the best westerns to be made with stunning scenery.

  • Does anyone know which John Wayne movie it is where he says "Pilgrim"? I've seen several of his films, and still have no idea where that comes from.

  • The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence. He keeps calling James Stewart that.

  • @davedaddy101 what a great question! i own most of them, but i cant place it. it's like when did jerry lewis actually say " hey laaaadies!"

  • @MrByaeger Actually, I have since then found out that There were 2 films where he said Pilgrim. 1. The man who shot Liberty Valence. He kept calling Jimmy Stewart Pilgrim. And 2. Mclintlock.

  • @davedaddy101 mclintock....yes, he threw it around like an insult in that one. love that brawl in the mud scene..have to revisit liberty valence now, what terrible homework. i want to say he dropped the p-bomb in "commancheros" but not sure on that

  • @MrByaeger Never saw that one.

  • History has taught us one sure thing, that it repeats itself, there is nothing new under the sun and what goes around comes around we need to wake up to this fact however, this is one of my favourite movies.

  • notice how ethan never answers her plea for a promise

  • Just watch a GREAT JOHN WAYNE movie and keep quiet .

  • this was a john ford movie but ya jw made it his owen

  • It really doesn't get much better than this. "Shall We Gather at the River" also appears in Ford's "My Darling Clementine."

  • Who gives a rats ass if Wayne was racist or not since blacks show their hatred for whites daily in crime committed upon them by blacks. When the North conquered the South they treated the southerners with disdain and came them under the boot until the 1920"s with harsh policies.

  • Ya and I'm sure wayne would not have a problem with Obama in the White house because at last Black people are getting equal rights as regards education, back in the 60s and 70s they were not.

As regards the native americans, people who emigrated to the USA in the centuries past had nothing ,surely they were entitled to a piece of land to live off.

This is what he is saying.

  • Married 3 times to women of the hispanic race who had children for him, also had plenty of black actors in his films, hardly racist now go to bed this time.

  • @brunobrowne

"I don't feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them if that's what you're asking. Our so called stealing of this country was just a question of survival."-John Wayne. Now contrast that statement with every modern historian's view of the discovery of America and tell me he is not a conservative asshole.

  • @hschan4 Listen dipshit, people who emigrated to the USA needed land to live, that was life back then, if not they would die. Do you think the USA would be the greatest country in the world if native americans were leaders. Of course it wouldn't.

Now grow the fuck up. John Wayne is a legend and was a very fine underated actor.

  • @brunobrowne Wow, your taking this pretty personal. I'm not even going to try to argue against your jingoistic bullshit, but I will say this: John Wayne was a one trick pony.

  • @hschan4 I dont know if you are American, but if you are and your feelings are so strong about the native american, then hand back all your belongings house, car etc to them or else shut up, cop on and grow up.

If you are native american you have to get over it, what's in the past is in the past, we Irish have.

  • @brunobrowne Well my original point was that John Wayne was a redneck asshole, when alot of his movie peers were quite progressive. John Ford included.

  • @hschan4 John Ford was not a nice person, this is a fact stated by many actors. JW on the other hand was very well respected both as an actor and a man by many liberal actors including Katherine Hepburn,Lauren Bacall, Kirk Douglas, Henry Fonda and many more.

He also became friends with Rock Hudson and big Rock was indebted to JW for reviving his flagging caree

I dont think a redneck asshole would marry 3 hispanic women do you?

  • @hschan4 Most modern historians are liberal assholes. Human history is filled with instances of one group of people taking land from another group of people. I see no reason to single out the settlement of North America by Europeans, especially since it turned out so well (including for those natives who do not tie themselves to a romanticized past). As proof, I offer the fact that so much of the world's population wish they could live in North America.

  • @westlock "Most modern historians are liberal assholes" That is the most objective statement I have ever heard... Clearly you have no bias when it comes to this subject matter.

  • This is the whole point of the movie, Wayne's character is that of the anti hero, now go to bed.

  • George Catlin's "Lettters and Notes On North American Indians" 1839 (( Mandans}}

    Kennewic Man...............

    Solutrains 22,000 years ago.

Columbia IMO is guilty of Genicidal lies against Whites, by marxist nutz.

  • yea man this is a pretty racist movie

  • haha, nazi??

    okay, i'm not pissed anymore

    your just hella dumb

    hahahaha

    fuckin retard

    you're hella funny

    and stupid

  • fuck yourself you ignorant piece of shit

  • dude the "indians" aren't played by white men

they're played by actual native americans living in and around monument valley, utah

    you're fucking stupid

  • Again, if you'd ever get over yourself long enough to watch the entire movie, you'd see the point of it is the gradual change from racism to acceptance. But alas, apparently ignorance is still bliss.

  • Just got the HD Blu-ray version at Sam's club for only $10. What a deal. It's fantastic.

  • LOL you are either a troll or a complete idiot

  • I guess we should ban all movies then...its on just about every hollywood film makers top list. In fact, this scene inspited the part in Star Wars where Luke comes home to see his home destroyed. Oh have fun in your make believe world

  • Nope sorry....."dude"

  • Sad thing is this movie was anti-racist and you don't understand it...Wayne played a racist who gradually changed. In the present MTV limited attention span generation they can't understand this

  • All I can say is don't watch it if your stomach can't handle it. To me its a portrayal of history weather you like it or not this was how it was.

  • Great Western. How would you feel if this happened to your family. The same way so shutup.

  • who are the 3 crosses which characters died which 3

  • One of the best movies ever made, period. John Wayne should have won an Oscar for this film, not True Grit. This is still Wayne's best performance of his career.

  • i fucking hope it gets you to. the duke was a legend not like you. your just a waste of space. r.i.p duke

  • the best western ever

  • I read the book when I was a teenager in the '50s, and saw the movie a year later - bought the video over twenty years ago - reread the book which has plot variations from the movie. Even though Vera Ellen's makeup and hairdo and certain touches of innocence remind me briefly that this movie was filmed in the 1950's, it is still my all-time favorite. The writing, direction, and film editing of this movie in just under two hours gives the feeling of a Homeric odyssey.

  • i was the 5000th view! unreal! that's like a 1 in 5000....

  • Pure Admiral Ford classic...And the quote for all time from the movies,,,"Folks just dont allow.. for the critter that just keeps on coming,,,"

  • Jefferey Hunter is one of the best looking men to have ever walked the face of the planet. I knew I was gay the minute I saw him. I must have seen this film at least 30 times over the years... He's still hot and this is still the best western ever made.

  • LMAO!
