  • 1:31 On the backs of angels!! YESS!

  • is that seymour duncan??

  • I have the 6 string version W/Piezo & a ebony fret board. It's a great guitar. Took a bunch of pickup swaps to get it right though.

  • question: 0:56-1:07 is a specific song or what?

  • not on the backs of angels just an E add9 chord

  • 1:31 Omg On the backs of angels:|

  • @lordmetal2 It's only an Eminor add9 chord...

  • 1:32 On The Backs of Angels. Close.

  • @TheZoDT just one part

  • 1:30 on the back of angels!!!

  • @ProjectBerklee Quando achava que era o unico que percebia isso... =O

E claro, tá tão óbvio! facepalm

  • anyone hear "on the backs of angels" at 1:32 and 1:44 ???

  • 0:05-0:16 Oh yeah, keep touching that bitch!

  • That amp should be called Mesa Rectal-Fire, since the sound simply makes me shit myself.

  • 1:00 :OOO Learning to live :D

  • this is petrucci in the mid stage from being skinny to becoming a beast!

  • enchanting..

  • 1:32 on the backs of angels! :O

  • @fruittymonstah

    i thought the same thing.

  • petrucci... the guitar's samurai ahhahaa

  • 1:32 THATS THE FIRST CHORD IN BACKS OF ANGELS!

  • @XxGGMONxX and?

  • @XxGGMONxX yes omg lol i was just gonna say that same thing! haha though i think its just an Em9 so its not that rare, still very cool hahaha

  • @XxGGMONxX i was going to say that P:

  • I was expecting it to be forged in the fires of hell but still awesome

  • I like the part where he talked to the mortals.

  • I like it without paint better actully. Looks really cool.

  • that sounds good

  • @ 0:22, Petrucci is god how do i noe? he transformed into a dwarf so he can stand while talking to the guy who's sitting...

  • at the very end, john petrucci plays a brad paisley style country lick! AWESOME! :D

  • you can make a whole CD only with what he play when hes bored

  • When I flick this switch I go into killzone mode, which means these two center coils become active and whenever I shred I kill people instantly, they just drop on the floor and die.....it's pretty amazing to see.

  • hey guys at Music Man. would you build me a custom guitar?... no? so I have to be a god ..? .... oh ok

  • he wasn't very buffed there, he is a bear these day's it's not normal XD

  • I just love those glassy chord progression that he plays all the time, especially in the earlier albums.

  • That thing needs a Picasso face on it.

  • @guitdude09 remember though he can time warp, its how hes developed his speed along with consuming the souls of small mammals

  • @Dreamscapevirus and winged insects, dont you ever forget that

  • This video is created by petrucci's pr agent...his real guitars are forged from the molten fires of hell.

  • He's getting that clean tone plugged straight into a Recto?

  • @gemari77 i think so

  • @neoatorre Sounds like he could be using the piezo

  • @xHighPotencyx its a mix of piezo and the middle switch which gives a fender sound by splitting the coils. But i didnt hear much piezo.

  • @neoatorre I think he's going through a Tremoverb

  • @gemari77

its straight into a recto, but his guitar has piezo pickups, dont forget it!

  • @gemari77 inside his rectum

  • @gemari77

Yeah the guitar itself sounds like this, i've had one in my studio while recording some clean electric guitar stuff. It sound pruduced without effects or nothing.

  • @gemari77 Him and Clint Eastwood

  • @gemari77 the guitar he is using has a peizo in it and hes using half peizo half eltric guitar. pretty amazing affect on a guitar if you ask me

  • @gemari77 it has a built in peizo pickup

  • @gemari77 It's the piezo that makes it so clean.

  • @gemari77 The clean recto sound is very nice and handbook.

  • @gemari77 He's usig the piezo

  • jp 4 president!!!

  • Mister John Petrucci!!

  • Wasn't his guitar hand made by Tony Blair and Ghandi or something?

  • @runtodemhills no, that one you say was made by Mr. Ibanez, and the frets were made in his own home-grown tree, in his yard... lol

  • Man who cares if the guy in the blue shirt is next to petrucci? it's not like he's plugged into a amp....

  • he kinda sounded like he was playing learning to live at the end

  • @rebaaecu

He's not trying to impress anybody.

    It's called noodling.

    It's what us guitarists do.

  • That was a very polite way to shut me up... :-s

  • Ha well I'm not into the whole 'You suck! You don't know anything! SHUT UP! GET OFF YOUTUBE!' kinda thing. I think it's lame:)

  • Anyway I feel the same way about that guy!!! I've been playing the guitar for 22 years now (I'm 33) and when someone like Petrucci is playing beside me the least thing I'd do would be noodling!!!

  • @TheDancingSaxophone yup thats all we do when we see a new guitar we havnt played we fiddle with whatever comes out of our heads its not really trying to say OH LOOK AT ME IM GREAT who ever does that honestly should not be a musician being a musician is art and showin an idea not showing how fast or anything like that

  • @TheDancingSaxophone the dancing saxophone is a guitarist???

  • @P00TANARA I'm a multi-instrumentalist. :)

  • @TheDancingSaxophone come on..please!! multi ^$#^@&$#^%$ probably!!!!

  • @P00TANARA No, I play the tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, electric, acoustic and classical guitar, bass guitar, ocarina and ukelele proficiently. I'm also learning piano and have intentions to learn drums.

  • @TheDancingSaxophone ok, and what do you do in your free time?? train to be a pilot?

  • @P00TANARA I'm a college student taking 18 hours and in 4 ensembles. "Free time" doesn't exist too often, but when it does I usually play video games with my roommate, talk to friends, stuff like that. haha.

  • i like how he got into his mellow jam

  • 1.01-1.08 LEARNING TO LIVE!!!!!!! :D

  • it's pretrucci...Hello

    duh xD

  • i didnt know ? but i know its john carl petrucci ! :D

  • @xmaagaardx I am pretty sure his name is John Peter Petrucci :-)

  • ok ok, i give up, and you locked me out ! :D

  • ITs Petrucci, he can do everything

  • 0:33....JP = midget? Haha

  • hahahahahaha

  • lmao

  • oh ok

  • wen did he shwich from ibanez

  • ugh... like fifteen years ago

  • 1999

  • after they finished scenes from a memory CD, therefore he had a musicman when he his touring for that album

  • This is kinda random...but his arms were hairy....I guess he shaves them now? Haha...

  • @meemat he probably shaves 'em now so they're more aerodynamic.

  • would this have been around 1997?

  • i dont think so because on the scenes of a memory album credits(the back of the little book) it says thanks to all brands tama bla bla bla and it says ibanez guitars so this must have been between 1999 and 2000 because on the metropolis 2000 dvd he is using music man

  • yeah maybe but because it's in the prototype stage here could have been some time before.

didn't realize it was his ibanez on SFAM though. thanks :)

  • I think you are right. No way it could be recent cuz he isnt as buff as he is now in this vid :)

  • Over the Hills and Far Away

  • was that like 1 second of led zeppelin "ramble on" that i heard at the very end?

  • You should check tha "Michael Kelly" guitars! Amazing, especially patriot and Hex series!

  • like at 1:00 he starts playing Learning to Live xD

  • how is that funny?

  • never said funny! just plain AWESOME

  • mkay. the xD threw me off.

  • i prefer epiphone to squier

  • it's =

  • Ibanez or music man, I say it depends on what you like, I love Ibanez guitars and I like music man basses

  • AAAAAAAND, I better shut my mouth! -_- or fingers.....damn :7

  • In fact, I'm seriously starting to think that Petrucci is the one and only man available to hurt chuck norris

  • good call.

  • @sacredfacto lol

  • @sacredfacto hahaha. I logged in just so I could give this comment a thumbs up.

  • @KornSOAD I voted this up because YouTube has the worst login system in the world...on EVERY other site on the internet it remembers me when I want it to (asides from banking and money sites of course..even eBay has a good system of remembering you without being logged in) yet YouTube is like haha LOL NO. Post Comment... "oh you need to be logged in..oh we stopped your video from loading just before it got to the end and you need to stream it all again..haha sorry"

  • @sacredfacto He would, excusing my language, fucking destroy Chuck Norris with one powerful blow from his custom built Ernie Ball Signature John Petrucci guitar.

  • @gibsongeetar999 Hahahahaha no problem man, english is not my native languague either xD I speak Spanish xD

  • @sacredfacto El gato y el oso se pelean in me pantalones!

  • @gibsongeetar999 hahahahahaha almost perfect, a little weird thou xD

  • @gibsongeetar999 one powerful blow... lol

  • @sacredfacto and jeff loomis :P

  • @sacredfacto What you you mean by that?

  • haha throws in some Led in the end for good measure

  • I leveled up on my guitar skill just by watching this video. thanks. Now I'm level 2.. 9998 more levels before I become like john.

  • more like 9998k

  • where does this footage come from?

  • Musicman Website :)

  • obviously heaven, cause look how white the background is, and this is footage of a god =]

  • lolololoolololol

  • where did u think petrucci made his guitars? Earth? nooooooo, that's just for us the guitar noobs. Thats why he has some cool aplications like controling the movement of the earth or how much ppl r gonna die when hes playin....plus the classic face-melting playin...exept in his case it's literally speaking :/

  • hahaha funny guy you are....

but very true indeed, dont underestimate his playing cause your head will blow off =]

  • wow he even sounds amazing dry with no effects....that's talent

  • very true, if u have to rely on effects then you suck...if u use it as embelishment, then you're amazing

  • word

  • Another stupid comment from another moron who knows shit about music..shame on you kid =/

  • you're so fucking dumb you should be left on a desert island to rot and die

  • hes right

  • if you are great player and don't use any effects and processors to enhance your sound (or in johns case if you are playing metal without any effect and processor) you are retarded.

Make your head start thinking but not only be a decoration of your body, idiot.

  • Why? You dont need effects to sound good. They are an augmentation of your sound and alot of the time sound good, but they are hardly needed. Too much effects = crap. Also, no effects at all = sometimes boring. Its really about finding a good balance.

  • nope.

    its a Music Man.

  • One of the patterns he plays is a warm-up exercise from "Wild Stringdom" :)

  • That guitars acoustic clean

  • somebody knows the chords he played from 0:55? I've found them magic^^

  • at 1:00 - 1:05 He's playing stuff from a change of seasons, but it changes pretty quickly to something else.

  • No, that first part was from Learning to Live.

  • Great sounding guitar.

  • PRS...lmao They quit making quality instruments quite a while ago now

  • I don't know about that, man.

  • Well, Ed Roman agrees with me

    /shrug

  • And that makes your opinion somehow much more right? Since some bigoted old blowhard who shoves his tastes down people's throat and calls it fact because he's got seniority on most of us and a website?

    Spare me.

CNC machines =/= Bad instruments. It just makes more consistant ones.

  • Calm down there buddy...we are talking about guitar preferences not a reactor leak ok. You must either be Carlos Santana or work for PRS with that emotion.

Alot of luthiers have been down on PRS's for a while now and according to people who inspect them and used to love them (like Ed), their newer productions fail to meet the standards of their older instruments.

Also, its hard to "shove" an opinion down someone's throat when they have to actively search out a website to find it.

  • He didn't buy it, he gets paid to use it, it's a signature model.

  • I hope you're joking, hahah

  • Petrucci looks like a porn actor with that ponytail lolololol =P

  • u must have watch alot of porn if you noticed that

  • why do music mans have to be so expensive, i wish i had one

  • They are expensive..I just got my BFR and let me tell you, they are worth every damn penny. But to answer you question of why do they cost so much? It's because they are hand crafted instruments, they aren't made by machine. There's only one word to really describe them and it's, well... Amazing.

  • kool, thanks

  • people who say that stuff are always lolworthy. if you think a CNC machine isn't used at all to make music man instrument, you are very wrong. and i own the first version of the JP.

  • That's one of the most perfect guitars ever built. And now they have a better model from the Ball Family Reserve line. The craftsmanship is unbeatable!

  • is the guitar petrucci played completely unfinished

  • Looks that way. That is the prototype. He is checking things out to see what he likes and what he wants changed. The final product will be to his exact specifications

  • Hey I just realised that the first part of the chords sequence he played is from learning to live !During the breakdown the 'I hear silence beauty and TRUUUUUUHUUUHUUUIEEEUUUHUUUHUUTH part'.

  • PETRUCCI RULES!!!!

  • Bad Cats are also great amps.

  • the part from 0:55 to 1:10 is from learning to live

  • I think it's really neat how they show the details of how the guitar was made, and just how custom to JP it really is.

  • Only the best is good enough for Petrucci.
