But I thought they were making it more like the album.. so which is it? I think it sounds better, I was only debating whether it was sped up or not. I'm 100 percent sure it is sped up, it would make no sense to tune up because it would have put more strain on his voice.

@blitzkrieg19031 Strain which his voice at this point could handle easily. This is not sped up, after Cliff died they played whiplash in 3,5 minutes. Just look up fight fire with fire from 1986 for example. They played in unnaturally fast.

What I mean is that I know they could play that fast, but I dont think they did, at least not in this recording because of the higher pitch telling me its been sped up.

This is not sped up at all. This is vintage late 80's Metallica. This is what they sounded like. Just listen to Hefield's voice. That's exactly what it used to sound like. Fantastic stuff.
